Amaral got out of the inning without further damage. The gave Clemmey the Jack Morris win as all five runs were charged to him on nine hits (two HR) and no walks over five and a 1/3rd innings. T.J. Manuel Ruiz walked one and stuck two while closing out the game to earn his fourth save. Brayan Cortesia had another four-hit game (second since Saturday) while Marconi German singled twice, scored twice, walked once, and stile his 15th base to power the D-Nats attack.
Congrats to Robles and Ruiz on their no hitter!
Brayan Cortesia just continues to hit. Looks like he could be a rare case of a IFA, who performs like the scouting reports predicted, and interestingly he played 2B yesterday.
Speaking of IFAs, Cristhian Vaquero is in the middle of a hot streak. Over his past 14 games, he’s hitting .333/.379/.588, and perhaps the most encouraging is that he’s only struck out 9 times in those 58 plate appearances (15.5%). Before that, he was striking out at 27.3%, which was a huge improvement on last year’s rate of 34.2%. Some very encouraging signs from him. Unfortunately, he’s perhaps the only positive story among the bats in Fredericksburg (Jackson Ross being the other, but he’s been in Wilmington for a while now).

With all due respect to Mr Solesky but he’s experiencing some beat downs like fellow former teammates Weigel and Peterson ( sounds like a law firm or a music act that got trumped by Loggins and Messina )
What a movie we live in everyone is back drop actors – hack without a loan , Jimmy Morrison .
Lara should leap up to AAA but is this a topic about Beltran vs preferred AA guy now and then ?
We’re now 15 games into the House Show, and it hasn’t gone very smoothly. He’s batting .230/.262/.279, good for a 49 wRC+. I have plenty of patience for prospects to figure things out in DC without much else to play for, but I worry that House seems to be regressing. It was clear he’d been instructed to be more patient and not chase, which was evident in the first week or so. Through his first 7 games, he only struck out 4 times in 30 plate appearances (+2 BB). But since then (8 games), he’s struck out 14 times in 35 plate appearances (only one BB). It looks like the scouting report is out on House now. He’s shown repeatedly through the minors that he can adapt, but it’s usually taken a while. For example, he was clearly out of his depth last season in AAA, but after a rough 45 game stint, he started 2025 really strongly.
It’ll be interesting to see how the Nats handle this, especially with DeJong, an option at 3B lurking. They demoted Hassell after putting up startlingly similar numbers to House’s after 21 games. Though that was to make room for another prospect in Lile.
I would only option House if they fear for his psyche. Otherwise, let him play through it. It’s not like he’s costing them their pennant chances. House struggled at AAA last year after promotion, but playing through it showed him what he needed to be able to do to make it this season.
Do you happen to know if the Nats can add a year of player control if they send House down to AAA for a while? I vaguely recall that the Nats sacrificed a year of control by bringing House up early, but I really don’t know.
I don’t know. Others might. I think they waited until past the relevant date, though.
The good news: second straight start for Clemmey with no walks. We’ll ignore the rest of the story. If he’s not walking anyone, the rest will fall into place.
