AFL Update: Oct. 12, 2024

The Rafters paddled back from a 9-1 deficit, including a five-run 8th, to force extras with the Saguaros. Alas, they could not finish the job as Surprise plated the free runner in the 10th to win 11-10.

Two Nationals appeared in the game:

● Michael Cuevas (pictured above) was the first man out of the Salt River ‘pen but failed to retire any of the six batters he faced. He was charged with four runs on two hits and four walks.

● Max Romero Jr. (right or below) was the starting catcher and batted seventh, where he went 1-for-4 with two RBI, two walks, and two whiffs. He also stole a base, but was 0-for-4 trying to prevent Mesa’s baserunners from doing the same.

The Rafters return home to host the Saguaros tonight.

    One more reference back to the new media head for Rockford Ice Hogs ( AHL) . He is a SYR orange alum. Didn’t Bob Costas come out of Syracuse broadcast school ??

        1. Lee that Osuna pic takes me back to two iconic snapshots or video in MLB history : the ball bouncing off of Juicy Jose Canseco and over wall for HR
          And the freeze frame of Al smith White Sox OF having a cup of beer spilled on his head as he in vain attempted to snap a HR .

            Yesterday was my 1st game so I’m just concentrating on getting some pics right now. If I can get a chance to see how RH3 is doing I’ll let y’all know.
