Buffalo jumped on Rochester for seven runs through two innings and cruised to an 8-3 win. Cory “Don’t Call Me Roger” Abbott took the brunt of the beating, giving up those seven runs on four hits (one HR) and five walks over just an inning and a 1/3rd to lose for the fourth time. The Red Wings broke up the shutout bid with three runs in the 7th on a two-run single by Derek Hill, who scored on Matt Adams’s second safety two batters later. Darren Baker and Nomar Mazar both reached base three times on a single and two walks to lead the Rochester offense. Roster moves: HP Hobie Harris optioned from Washington; C Ivan Murzi placed on the Development List; RHP Tommy Romero activated from 3-Day T.I.L.

The SeaWolves worked their way back from a 6-2 deficit by scoring in four straight “ups” to take an 8-7 lead. The Senators, however, were able to answer with three in the 7th to secure a 10-8 victory. Tyler Beck got the spot start due to the rain and was dinged for two runs on four hits and two walks over three innings. Tim Cate got the dreaded blown-save-win as he let in three on four hits, including a two-run HR, and a walk over two and a 1/3rd innings. Leonel Valera reached base with five times two singles and three Victor Robles. Blake Rutherford matched him with three singles, a walk, and a two-run double. Drew Millas drove in five with a grand slam in the 2nd and an RBI single in the 4th as Harrisburg pounded out 13 hits total on the night while scoring a season-high ten runs. Roster moves: RHP Odalvi Javier reassigned from Rochester.
Wilmington vs. Jersey Shore – PPD
Unlike Rochester v. Buffalo (31 minute delay) or the Seawolves/Senators (64 minutes), they pulled the plug on Wilmington and Jersey Shore shortly before first pitch. They’ll shoot to make it up this afternoon with a doubleheader.

It was another wet one for the FredNats, Last Night in Fredericksburg.
Friday was a “ dark “ full moon , Luke
Millas has been consistently great this season. His average hasn’t dropped below .328 at any point and currently sits at .351. His plate discipline is elite. His walk rate is 18% and his strikeout rate is merely 16.9%, compared to so many of his peers who are striking out in the 30-40% range, and add in power with a very good .181 ISO. And did I mention he’s playing the most difficult defensive position with the worst offensive output and he is meant to be a plus defender there? This guy could be REALLY REALLY good. He is however 6 months older than our current starting catcher, Ruiz. I don’t know what more he has to prove, and puzzled that Plawecki’s departure didn’t result in a well deserved promotion.
Meanwhile Blake Rutherford has quietly put together a very good season himself. He’s now batting .298/.349/.596. There’s still some concerns in his profile. Unlike Millas he doesn’t walk enough, but his strikeouts are a manageable, under 20%. After playing each of the two past full seasons at AAA, it was surprising to see him get named to Harrisburg. I’d hope Barreto’s sub-Mendoza batting average or Cody Wilson won’t block Rutherfords rise.
Millas has been consistent the entire season. His grand slam last night was a no doubter.
