The Red Wings emptied the bullpen Forrest Gump pause again on a Sunday. The good news: The last four pitchers did not give up a run. The bad news: The first four pitchers were strafed for 17 runs (nine earned) on ten hits (3HR) and eight walks as the Tides ripped Rochester, 17-7 in the series finale. Franklyn Kilome took the loss as he coughed up three runs on a two-run HR and three hits total while throwing the first inning. He walked one and struck out one. Derek Hill led the Rochester hit column with a 4-for-4 afternoon but also committed one of the four Red Wings errors.

Three Harrisburg pitchers combined to shut out Akron, 3-0 on three hits in the opener. Alex Troop went the first five, allowing two hits and three walks while striking out six to win his second game. Garvin Alston worked around a one-out single in the 6th for the hold while Richard Guasch issued a walk in the 7th but struck out two to get the save. Omar Mergildo singled and doubled while Trey Harris doubled and walked to lead the Senators’ offense.

In the “aftercap,” the Senators erased an early 1-0 deficit with single runs in the 5th and 6th, then got two in the 7th to complete the doubleheader sweep, 4-1. Michael Cuevas turned five innings of one-run ball on four hits without a walk to earn his first AA win. Tim Cate put up a goose egg in the 6th for his fourth hold while Joel Peguero cordero’d around a hit, a walk, and a Robles to notch his third save. Jack Dunn singled twice and scored twice while Frankie Tostado singled, walked, and drove in a run to pace the Harrisburg attack.

Wilmington vs. Brooklyn – PPD
The series finale between the Cyclones and the Blue Rocks was called due to unplayable field conditions. They’ll make it up later this season.

The loss went to Miguel Gomez, who gave up a two-run HR in the 8th and two hits total with nary a walk nor a whiff. Daylen Lile drove in three on a double and a homer while Roismar Quintana reached base three times and drove in a run to power the FredNats’ eight-hit, five-walk offense.

Good job Alex Troop. Clearly, Rochester could use a pitcher (or 12) capable of limiting a team to two hits and no runs over five innings.

Nice day for Daylen Lile. It’s head-scratching how a 2d round pick who they paid $1.75M has only appeared in 8 of his team’s 14 games.

Plenty of season left for Lile and other blue chippers to get their rotations and ABs .
Brass calling the shots on these rehabs .
There has got to be a mental attribute in a pitcher in a DH situation . Just reach five IP with the pace of getting Game 2 in then hit the showers and get off to a well deserved dinner ( bus ride ).
Fred MD how did Troop look with his stuff along with Michael C?
