Since making the big jump to AAA Jake ‘no respect’ Alu has a .914 OPS. Amazing!

In case anybody missed it, the Nats brought their Instrux squad to the Marlins game, or at least most of them. Sammy Infante was the translater for the Spanish speakers and Gerardo Parra looks like he’s an employee now with the team. The roster for the Instrux is still a mystery.

Zach Brzykcy was like a hot knife through butter last night.

Alu hits the nice round numbers of 20 homers and 80 RBIs in game 130 of his season. His 39 doubles are even more impressive than the homers. I thought of his 9 homers and .281 average at AA as solid, but with 11 homers in 57 games and .314 average at AAA, he has raised his status even more.

Of course Joey Meneses now has 31 homers across two levels. I’m not sure what to believe about the longer-term prospects of either of them, but they sure are great stories in a summer without too many of them.

Alu and Meneses both were late to develop the power stroke they have shown this year. I guess the evolution was viewed with skepticism in the latters case.

Alu will have the benefit of coming along at the right time with a rebuilding team, something Meneses did not have.

Spring training will be huge for both, with Meneses earning a little more slack due to his performance in the show.

One problem with Meneses was that after a fine AAA season at Lehigh Valley at age 26, he went to Japan and got a PED suspension there.

good timing and a nice touch to bus the instrux boys to the game yesterday. sounds like something a class organization would do.

Agree about it being classy. Also, the youngsters got a chance to meet and (briefly) talk with Martinez and Rizzo. I’m looking forward to seeing Alu battle Kieboom and Vargas for 3B in ST.

Today’s Red Wings game has already been rained out. They now have 3 more games this season, Mon-Wed.

Nationals brought all their players from instructs to tonight’s game. Among the big group is James Wood and Jackson Rutledge. Mike Rizzo is currently speaking to them all.

To be totally accurate: I don’t know for certain that every player who’s been in West Palm is here tonight. But at the very least, there’s a lot of them!
