A 4-2 Sens lead went buh-bye in the space of just five batters as Erie scored six unanswered runs in the late innings to double up Harrisburg, 8-4. The good Ronald Herrera showed up and turned in his seventh quality start, allowing two runs on six hits, no walks, and fanning four. The usual Gerardo Carrillo followed with one batter retired out of five faced and three runs let in on a hit, a walk, a hit-by-pitch, and a wild pitch during the 7th. It was his first loss and second straight blown save since his return to AA. Anthony Young drove in three with his 10th double and his 11th HR while Israel Pineda went deep for his 7th AA big fly to account for the four Senators runs.

The importance of a good bullpen was on display Last Night in Fredericksburg
Israel PIneda continues to tear through AA, playing terrific defense and crushing it to the tune of a .894 OPS.
Chuckling seeing Luke Voigt wearing good old number 34.

Nice to see Cuevas gold for 4 IP after Lee vs Iron birds
The Senators game last night was a brutal slog.
There must have been a skunk orgy happening in the woods beyond the outfield wall, because the stands along the first base line smelled strongly of skunk all night. I didn’t know skunks lived on City Island, but apparently they do.
The first few innings were nice, a tightly played games with some back and forth and nice defensive wizardry. And then… Gerardo Carrillo is not good. That was a bed carp performance. It could have been worse; I seem to recall that Erie was three feet away from a grand slam. (Erie’s batter had the distance, but he was a few feet right of the right field foul pole.)
I considered leaving at the 7th inning stretch–which, in retrospect, I should have–but toughed it out until the end anyway. For the first time this season I got rained on by the mayflies.
In the bottom of the ninth, the first base umpire took a load of abuse from the remaining 1,500 fans. Ball hit to the second baseman, a throw to first that’s high, a stretching first baseman that looks like it pulls his foot off the bag… and the batter’s called out. Maybe he was, maybe he wasn’t. At that point, I’m not sure it mattered. The umpire crew probably wanted to get back to the hotel.
I only have two more games on my plan this year. I’m sad.
Skunks org after the new moon
Yes, there are skunks, groundhogs and opossums on City Island. In the past, skunks have sent the visitors bullpen scattering.
