Jefry Rodriguez pitched into the 6th for the first time this season, allowing three hits and… wait, what?… no walks while fanning three. Francisco Perez, Tyler Clippard, and Jordan Weems got the next eight outs to each earn a hold while Carl Edwards Jr. set down the side in the 9th with the 10th and 11th K’s combined for the save. Nick Banks homered while Luis García and Joey Meneses each doubled to pace the Rochester offense.

Taylor Gushue’s second HR of the night broke a 5-5 tie as Harrisburg edged Bowie, 6-5 in the series opener. Starter Ronald Herrera gave up all five BaySox runs (four earned) on seven hits (two HR) and a walk while striking out two. Alex Troop picked up his third win in relief with three scoreless innings, allowing one hit, no walks, and setting down four on strikes. Matt Brill extended his scoreless inning streak to eight while racking up his eighth save with a 1-2-3 ninth. Jake Alu doubled and hit his fourth HR in the last five games while driving in three (as did Gushue) while Jecksson Flores and Wilson Garcia both singled and doubled to power the Senators’ offense.

Tyler Yankosky blew his second save opportunity in as many appearances with a run let in on a single, hit-by-pitch, a flyout, and a groundout in the 8th. Israel Pineda led the Blue Rocks’ six-hit barrage with a single and a double while Darren Baker plated the gamewinner on a sac fly in the 10th. Zach “Can I Get A Vowel?” Brzykcy picked up the win after striking out the side in the top of the 10th.
Fredericksburg vs. Lynchburg – PPD
Rain washed out the opener between Fredericksburg and Lynchburg. They’ll shoot to make it up tomorrow afternoon with a twinbill starting at 4 p.m.
File under “interesting”: Nick Banks is now at .348/.384/.580, with four homers and four doubles, wRC+ of 155. The caveats are that he’s riding unsustainable .426 BABIP “luck” and has only walked three times against 18 Ks. But he’s definitely breathed new life into a career that was on the rocks after last season.
Jake ‘no respect’ Alu and Justin Connell just keep on hitting.
Interesting to see what happens to Lucious Fox in Rochester. The Nats are his 4th organization, he was originally a $6 million sighning out of the Bahamas by the Giants.
DSG has the utility role for the Nats, but I can see a possible trade to a contender riddled with IF injuries, as the Nats were in 2021, when Avila had to play 2B for a game. Fox will get reps at 3B, SS, and 2B and probably will be the 1st IF called up in case of injury.
I didn’t see much from Fox that impressed me. He looked overmatched by MLB pitching. His career slash in the minors is .244/.339/.332, with only 16 homers. There doesn’t seem like much to see here.
This is for fun : guess the date DeLaRosa hits number ten HR .
M Franco hitting .274 with good results on western roadie
Let’s see how he does returning home
House placed on the IL with an undisclosed injury.
TJ White is in the lineup.
Jackson Rutledge activated off the IL.
