The Red Wings rolled to a seventh straight win on the strength of a five-run 5th. Jefry Rodriguez fell one out short of qualifying for a Jack Morris win, allowing three runs on three hits (one HR) and three walks while striking out four. Jace Fry stranded two while getting the last out of the 5th to get the “W.” Matt Lipka singled twice and scored twice while Joshua Palacios reached base three times on a single and two walks to lead the Rochester offense.
Roster moves: C Chris Herrmann activated from 3-Day T.I.L.; C Wilmer Perez, placed on the Development List, retroactive to May 12.

Harrisburg battled back from a 5-1 deficit to tie it at 5-5 after eight but fell in the 10th, 6-5. Steven Fuentes didn’t hit 15 of 20 batters faced as he labored through three innings on 76 pitches. He gave up three runs on three hits and three walks over three innings. Brian González took the loss as he let in the free runner in the 10th on a pair of sacrifices. Jack Dunn and Dondrei Hubbard both singled three times while Justin Connell and K.J. Harrison both hit solo HRs to power the Senators’ offense.

Wilmington vs. Brooklyn – PPD
Fog rolled in again on the Cyclones and Blue Rocks for the second straight night, forcing another postponement. A makeup date has not yet been announced, but Wilmington next visits Brooklyn in late August and has two series at Frawley Stadium in the interim.

Kannapolis 5 Fredericksburg 2

• M. Perez (L, 0-1) ⅔ IP, 3H, 4R, 4ER, BB, 2K, HBP
• De La Rosa 2-5, R, RBI
• House 1-2, HBP

Kannapolis broke a 1-1 tie with a four-run 8th to take their second straight from Fredericksburg, 6-5. Rodney Theophile pitched seven full innings for the first time in his career, with an unearned run allowed on four hits and no walks while racking up eight K’s. IFA Marlon Perez made his (American) pro debut but was, um, shelled by the Cannon Ballers for four runs on three hits and a walk over 2/3rds of an innings to take the loss. Jeremy De La Rosa singled twice to lead the FredNats hit column while Andry Arias drew two of the four walks for Fredericksburg’s batters.
Roster moves: SS Brady House activated from 7-Day I.L.; LHP Peyton Glavine placed on the 7-Day I.L.; LHP Marlon Perez assigned from XST.

The big story of Brady House’s return is he didn’t finish the game.
Rodney Theophile has pitched 33 innings this year and his ERA is 0.82, he’s only 22. Yet another player at Fredericksburg who needs to move up.

FWIW, the brief local news account of the game mentions House’s return but nothing about him getting reinjured. Maybe removal was precautionary.

SOP in the Nats minors system for a prospect just coming off the IL. I would have been more surprised if he had finished the game.

Rizzo called Grant Dayton’s agent I bet

Yes, you read that correctly. Fuentes hit 5 batters. Most were on a breaking ball. Sens pitchers hit two more batters which led to warnings and an ejection. Richmond later hit a Sens batter, but wasn’t ejected. Both team’s pitchers seemed to request new baseballs more than usual.

76 pitches to get through 3 innings is just bad. Nuke Laloosh for the day.

        Meanwhile Harper has PRP injection
        That’s usually for a hurler

Wasn’t Marlon Perez signed this winter ?
If I would have been pitching on Black Friday
( Divine Mother 13 th ) I would have hit a bunch of batters too , Luke .
Many people had foggy days ..

After a hot start, everyone besides Jeremy de la Rosa and Viandel Pena on the FNats have really faded… I remember when we were counting the players on that team whose OPS was below .800. There were only a couple. Now, 9/15 do.

Still, there’s more good than bad, for example TJ White’s slash is still okay for an 18 year old (.232/.328/.411), but something much more serious happened when he got injured in on April 24. Since then, he’s hitless and struck out in 11 of his 13 ABs (an insane stat!).

Likewise for Yoander Rivero. He didn’t get injured, but really fell off around the same time. Since April 23, he’s hit a mere .139/.238/.139.

And Jacob Young is batting .177/.236/.216 since April 28.

On the brightside, after a good start, Jeremy de la Rosa has shifted into another gear, batting .432/.500/.811 in May. Viandel Pena, one of the few FNats to not start the season with a bang, has come to life with some real power never seen before, batting .360/.450/.620 since April 21.

De la Rosa is repeating the level so would seem to be prime promotion material. The organization has been really high on him. Glad to see his numbers start matching the hype. Let me know when that starts happening with some others. (Checks Antuna’s .207 BA . . .)

Zero reason Theophile, JLDR, and Peña ought not to be moving to Delaware on Monday. Arguably House too.

Branden Boissiere is also doing quite well. Jacob Young is a tough out and he was robbed yesterday on a liner that had to have left the bat at 105+. I’d like to see more of Leandro Emiliani.
