Josh Rogers was a one-man show, pitching five innings of one-run ball and driving in three in a 4-1 Red Wings win over the Mets. Rogers allowed five hits, two walks, and struck out one to earn his fourth win. He also went 2-for-2. Yadiel Hernandez singled twice, walked once, and homered to lead Rochester’s ten-hit, three-walk offense.

In the nightcap, Rochester blew a 5-1 lead to lose in extra innings, 6-5, and split the doubleheader. Sterling Sharp got knocked from the box with two out in the 5th, as he let in four runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out one. Ronald Peña allowed the equalizer for the blown save while Gabe Klobosits allowed the free runner to score in the 8th on a one-out double to take the loss, his first at AAA. Tres Barrera, Rafael Bautista, and Brandon Snyder each went 2-for-4 and scored a run while Yadiel Hernandez hit another longball (No. 5) to pace the Red Wings offense. Roster moves: LHP T.J. Harrisburg rallied for three in the 4th to tie it at 3-3 but the ‘pen finally broke in the 9th as Aaron Barrett gave up a leadoff single to let in the free runner to fall behind 4-3. K.J. Harrison led off the bottom of the 9th with a ground-ball single but the free runner Jakson Reetz was easily thrown out at home. Neither Nick Banks nor Ramon Flores could move up Cole Daily, who pinch-ran for Harrison, to seal the 4-3 loss by the Senators. Cadew Cade Cavalli, Washington’s sole representative to the 2021 Futures Game, stuck out nine but gave up three runs on four hits and three walks over five innings for the no-decision. Fredericksburg stopped a six-game slide with a 6-3 win over Salem. Karlo Seijas turned in a quality start with three runs allowed on five hits (two HR) and a walk while striking out three. He walked one while earning his second win. Troy Stainbrook blanked Salem for three innings to earn the save, his first. Jeremy Ydens and Junior Martina both went 2-for-4 with a run scored to lead the F-Nats’ offense. Roster moves: RHP Edward Ureña reassigned from FCL.

Seth Romero came out of hiding made his first appearance since last August in a 10-6 FCL Nats loss to the FCL Marlins. Romero gave up two runs on three hits and two walks over an inning and 2/3rds while striking out two. Bernardo Hiraldo took the loss and was charged with a blown save as he let in four runs (two earned) on six hits over three innings of relief. He walked none and struck out one. 18-y.o. Roismar Quintana reached base four times with two doubles and two walks, scored once, and drove in two as the FCL Nats racked up six runs on nine hits and seven walks. Roster moves: Seth Romero reassigned from Rochester for MiLB rehab.

OMG, a Seth Romero sighting! He wasn’t very good, facing 10 batters and only getting 5 out. Who knows what his actual injury was.
Looking for a bounce back start from Michael Cuevas.
Cavalli had 9 Ks, but his breaking ball was hanging and that’s what they hit. Nick Banks saved a couple more runs with a leaping catch at the wall. In the 8th inning, hbg had the bases loaded with no outs and couldn’t get in the winning run. Two Ks and a flyout.

Finally: Jake “Who?” Alu is starting at third base for the Harrisburg Senators today. Well-deserved promotion to Double-A for the 24-year-old Alu, who tagged High-A pitching for a .303/.846 slash line while stealing eight bases on eight attempts this season.
