Plugging Away at the Watchlist
With the federal holidays falling on a Wednesday in 2019-20, it feels like everyone has taken last week and this week off. I went back to work yesterday, but judging by the roads and the office, most people have not.
It’s been forever since Baseball America or MiLB has let us know about free-agent signings; we’ve only heard about them on the Twitters or in the comments. BA informs us this because they’ve been too busy with the handbook and the magazine. MiLB, I presume, is waiting for the interns to come back.
As the headline says, I’ve begun writing the player reports for the 2020 Watchlist and have finished a few pages. It’s usually pretty easy until I get the outfielders and/or the right-handed pitchers; then it’s a slough.
The purpose of this post, like many in the months of January and February, is to let you know we haven’t gone dark. It’s just really slow.
Until next time…
Slow is expected because champions always have to wear the winning as long as possible. Look at how teams carry the Stanley Cup around the world to photo op in every scenario .
What will be interesting in year two of the AAA/AA assignment
Experiment is how players will be plugged . True AA guys or short call out AAA guys like Kyle McGowin parked in PA.??
I would think St Michael in Fresno means a truer Fresno affiliation appropriate roster and same for Harrisburg .
Brass might resort to filling holes on a need basis even as far reaching as Indy league signings instead of minor league free agents ??
24 ounce coffee going down fast. Royal farms raised their prices …
Are we surprised Harris was reeled in especially with his career birthed in the Arizona desert??
Interesting guys that Jose Miguel Fernandez did not pursue a AAa pact with an org this year. Better scenario in Korea ??
Great photo!
Where is Lily Tomlin ( one a ringy dingy….) in that photo. ??
Workload spread upon Wander , Hunter , Elias ( bureau) . Does Austen Williams get into the fray ??
Luke. The watches keeping time in your photo is like the Twi light Zone audio.
David Hernandez. F troop fodder and NRIL for March .
Plenty of released infielders and outfielders to consider in late March off waiver wire
Jordan Smith L/ R Cleveland OF farmhand for Fred or HARR??
The question remains. : Did David Hernandez pass his team physical …
Castro to Nats. AC maybe a last minute camp add?
Castro does lend some infield rubics cube flex for Davey
Kieboom to Fresno for April and slightly beyond ??
CK and Rutledge look like two parts of a trade package.
Colorado , Peric?? I am not into Bryant …
Horse shack on Welcome Back , Kotter always said : I am so confused !! Did the Nats
Re sign David Masters before or after the Rule 5 minor league portion back from the Cubs ?! BA list says that along with Hernandez .
I stand corrected by the Iowa Cubs winter roster. David Masters sits there
Yup. Colorado. Bryant is not a good defender. Might as well try Kieboom there first before Bryant.
Trade those two and you can basically close up shop on the farm. That would be devastating for this team’s future; we literally wouldn’t have anything left, other than I guess Garcia, whom even positive evaluators suggest might just be Wilmer Difo.
Sao, considering how young he is, Garcia’s future value has yet to be written.
I remember about 6 months ago Mark Lerner told his farm guy he wanted him to find another Juan Soto. He needed to be told that this happens about once every 50 years.
Garcia may be paired with Freeman and Rule 5 Geraldo @ Harrisburg ??
Fresno needs some middle infield signings before camp
Not sure Todd Boss likes the Starling Castro pick up? Doesn’t list him on the Big Board? Does he consider him an early cut if they sign Donaldson or trade for Arenado? How much would be saved?
Depth depth depth.
Rainey , Suero Abad all have options down to F- troop??
That means Senators should have some rifles in the pen with C- Bogan , German along with Mothers Istler ( unless he is Luke’s Proverbial Witness Protection Program , ). Hayden Howard Harrisburg help??
Tocci on patrol in CF for Fresno …
Okay Jeff, you made me look. Tocci spent 8 years in the minors, spending last year in Nashville. He must be a great glove because he hit .662 OPS last year.
Raffle rwhabs @ Harrisburg in CF…
Boss man.
Nats like to sign guys for
Career restarts with a low minor league cost.
Tocci just couldn’t hit MLB pitching. Chisox and Texas
The Greek Yadiel chorus singing for Yadiel to blend into the 2020 mix ???
Could Fresno being not the true next stop to the Bigs be keeping some free agents from diving into a Fresno summer so guts added with be rejects , orphans , rebounds , true gysey souls with suitcase covered with affiliate patches ???
One cannot help notice that Gilberto Lara dons number 6 . Shall we see he and K Williams on City Isle come April or Fred inaugural roster ?
