Will He Be the First?
Since the Rizzo era began in 2009, no watchlist player has been added to the 40-man roster prior to Opening Day. Others have noticed…
The Nats teasing the exciting possibility of having Jake Noll on the Opening Day roster, only to make a last minute addition of a journeyman reliever or some grizzled, recently-cut infielder, would be very Nats. https://t.co/RVabrOkwB0

Will he be the first? Maybe. It really depends on who’s available on the waiver wire over the next 29 hours or so.
Fingers crossed, maybe even toes, but my Dukes brothers dollar is still betting on a claim and a ticket to Harrisburg for Mr. Noll. I hope I’m wrong.
I’ m astonished at how fast Noll’s fortunes have risen this spring. It was said by the propagandists (Bob & FP) that Noll’s defense is actually quite good, which surprised me because I thought he was the classic man without a position who couldn’t hit for enough power to be at 1B but wasn’t a good enough fielder to be at 2B or 3B. How did he look when he was playing at Potomac?
I heard something very similar about Noll when he was drafted, that basically he was limited to 2B. Kudos to him for putting in the work to get himself on the cusp of a cup of coffee.
Noll’s the first! Congrats to him for not only making the OD roster but also the 40-man. We’ll likely see him again even after Kendrick returns. September if not before.
A walk-on to his college team. An NRI who made the big leagues out of spring training.
God, I love baseball.
