I don’t think are any real surprises here, and there still may be a few more before April 4, but this is where I remind folks that for most of these guys, this is the end of their professional careers. So thanks and best wishes towards the next chapter in the book, so to write.
Our suspicions regarding the assignment of some guys to AA for the sake of expediency (not only that, Skipper, they’ll be close to DC) may still be proven wrong, but this seems about right. Raudy Read will still probably be
the DH playing catcher in Fresno. Fedde’s placement may very well be temporary, but let’s not forget that he hasn’t exactly dominated at AA, AAA, or MLB. It wouldn’t hurt to have a few starts to get back that confidence… or drop down to have some margin for error if he’s going back to relieving.
With roughly five days to go, there’s still an outside shot of Jake Noll beating out Adrian Sanchez for a bench spot, though I suspect that 40-man spot vacated by Severino will be saved for a possible waiver claim. Likewise, it would also seem that Austen Williams has a puncher’s chance of beating out Wander Suero for the last bullpen spot.
