Jimmy Cordero getting the call to the big club and Shawn Kelley DFA’d for being a whiner.

    I like this move.

Someone has to pitch the 9th, even in a blowout. If you get the call, you do it. That’s the part of the gig. It isn’t always gonna be a high-leverage situation. Suck it up and do your job and if you don’t , vaya con dios.

Besides, it’s not like Kelley is an all-star or a post-season hero or anything. He’s a journeyman middle reliever a year removed from having an ERA north of 7. Dude should be thrilled to be in the Bigs, and do whatever it takes to stay there. I am glad the Nats are sending this message to their clubhouse.

Kelley was paid a fortune and only was effective for 1 of the 3 years of the contract.
I’m just glad there was no wholesale offloading of the prospects to salvage the big clubs season.
      Hooray for that!

I feel the same way about not trading the prospects. I also suspect Kelley’s DFA was a signal that management has had it with all the unprofessional behavior this season. Of course, it would be nice if their pouting superstar was also held accountable for his behavior.

So will Luke no longer be able to use “Cordero’d” in his game descriptions? Of course Kelley Cordero’d several games in his Nats’ career . . .

Cordero actually has been very good recently, with no earned runs and only four walks over his last 10 appearances (11 IP).

Maybe, if he becomes sensationally lucky and a fan favorite at the same time…

Good to see both Vandy arms up to Auburn.
Good to see Y. Ramirez find his zone again.
John Romero, Luke, forced Jorge Pantoga down to Suns?

Kinda curious why Cordero was summoned over Koda Glover. Maybe they want him to have a few more IPs before being brought up to the bigs.
