Harrisburg – OFF DAY
Third-place Harrisburg resumes its current homestand with three against second-place Altoona. Roster moves: 1B-3B Drew Ward demoted from Syracuse; IF Khayyan Norfork placed on the 7-Day DL.

Potomac 10 Carolina 1
Riding a four-game win streak, the P-Nats head back to Frederick for the 43rd time this season (give or take) and look to get to .500 in the second half

Hagerstown 6 Lexington 5
• Hill (W, 3-3) 6IP, 7H, 2R, 2ER, 0BB, 1K
• German (H, 1) 2IP, 0H, 0R, BB, K
• Dunlap 2-4, R, HR, 2RBI, BB
• Scudder 2-4, R, 2RBI, BB
• Freeman 2-4, R, BB, E(15)

Hagerstown threatened to make it three straight meltdowns in the 9th, giving up three in the 9th, but held on for a 6-5 win. Brigham Hill turned in a quality start of two runs on seven hits and no walks over six innings. He struck out one (1) while winning his third game. After two scoreless from Jhonatan German, Connor Zwetsch coughed up three in the 9th—with the “help” of the Suns’ fourth error—on three hits (including a two-run HR) before Phil Morse came on to strand the tying run with a whiff to earn his second save. Omar Meregildo and Alex Dunlap both homered and were among four Suns batters to collect multiple hits to lead the Hagerstown offense.

Auburn 9 West Virginia 2
• Y. Ramirez (W, 3-4) 6IP, 5H, 0R, 0BB, 4K
• D. Smith (SV, 4) 1⅔ IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 0K, 3-0 IR-S
• Blash 2-3, 3R, 2B, BB, HR, 3RBI
• Perkins 2-4, R, 2-2B, 3RBI
• Marinconz 2-3, 3B, BB, RBI

The Doubledays busted out for three in the 1st and put it away with four in the 8th as they took the series opener from the Black Bears, 9-2. Yonathan Ramirez got his third win with six shutout innings on five hits and now walks while striking out four. David Smith bailed Colin Morse in the top of the 8th as left the bases loaded with a 5-2 lead and pitched a scoreless 9th for the save. Jamori Blash became the latest reverse-curse GBI as he walked, doubled, homered, and drove in three to lead the nine-hit, seven-walk Auburn offense. Roster move: RHP Reid Schaller reassigned from the GCL.

GCL Nationals 4 GCL Mets 4 – SUSP.
• R. Gomez 4IP, 5H, 4R, 2ER, BB, 0K, HR
• Morales 2-3, 2R

The G-Nats scored twice in the 1st and 3rd while the G-Mets did the same in the 3rd and 4th before the rains came. After 15 minutes, the umpires decided it was time to get some coffee called it. They’ll make it up when the two teams next meet on Saturday. Roster move: C Joey Harris assigned from Hagerstown for MiLB rehab.

I feel like they moved Drew Ward up to AAA hoping he’d have one of thus new-guy-on-the-team hotstreaks that would elevate his trade value and then they’d move him.

That, to be polite, didn’t happen so they are sending back to recalibrate at AA.

Still not sure there is a lot of there there with Ward. His AA numbers – .221, 21 HRs over parts of 3 seasons aren’t very good and he’s obviously way out of his depth at AAA. And he’s a right-handed first baseman who could occasionally cover third (and presumably corner OF spots). He’s basically a really poor man’s Matt Reynolds with not nearly as much pop.

I know he had that good showing in the AFL and he won’t be 24 till the fall, but time is quickly running out for this kid.

Ward went to AAA because Jacob Wilson went on the DL. He just came off so Ward was sent back to HBG. Here’s hoping he has a good last month of the season.

So apparently Brandon Kintzler was sent to the Cubs.

Will be curious to see what they got back and what reliever the Nats summon to replace him.

Will they go back to Suero or Gott or does Koda Glover get the call?
