Two Senators pitchers combined on a two-hit shutout of the RubberDucks, 6-0 to take the series, 2-1. Sterling Sharp won his AA debut with seven innings of one-hit ball, giving up two walks and striking out five. Roman Mendez followed with scoreless, allowing the second hit, no walks, and fanning two. Austin Davidson singled twice, doubled once, scored a run, and drove in a run while Matt Reistette singled and homered to pace the Harrisburg offense. Roster moves: RHP Sterling Sharp promoted from Potomac; UT Khayyan Norfork placed on the 7-Day DL.

Wilmington 11 Potomac 5 – GAME ONE
• Hellickson (L, 0-1) 4⅔ IP, 9H, 11R, 11ER, 3BB, 4K, 2HR, HBP

• Corredor 2-4, R, 2B, 3RBI

Wilmington pounded MLB rehab Jeremy Hellickson for 11 runs on nine hits in a 11-5 smackdown of Potomac. Hellickson gave up a solo HR in the 2nd and a grand slam in the 4th vs. the Carolina League’s 7th-best offense and was lifted with two outs in the 5th. He finished with three walks, four strikeouts, and a hit batsman. Fellow rehabber Brandon Kintzler also made an appearance and retired the side in order in the 6th. Aldrem Corredor singled, doubled, and drove in three while Ian Sagdal and Nick Banks both singled twice to lead the P-Nats offense. Roster moves: RHPs Jeremy Hellickson, Brandon Kintzler assigned from Washington for MLB Rehab; Matt DeRosier reassigned from Hagerstown.

Wilmington vs. Potomac – PPD
Like last night in Hagerstown, rain came after the first game. With both teams needing to hit the road, they opted to not play the second game. Unlike the Suns and ‘Hoppers, the P-Nats and Blue rocks do have one more series – Aug. 31st to Sep. 3rd. Best guess for the makeup date: Saturday, September 1st.

Delmarva 8 Hagerstown 7
• Alastre 5IP, 5H, 6R, 2ER, 3BB, 3K, HBP
• Lee (L, 2-2) 2IP, 0H, 1R, 0ER, BB, 2K
• Antuna 2-5, 2R, HR, 2RBI, 2K
• Panaccione 2-4, 2RBI
• Garcia 1-3, R, BB, RBI, CS, E(16)

The Shorebirds rallied for three in the 5th to tie and scored single runs in the 7th and 8th innings to take the series opener, 8-7. Tomas Alastre went the first five innings and gave up six runs (two earned) on five hits and three walks. Andrew Lee took the loss on an unearned run let in over two innings on a walk-steal-error-sac-fly sequence in the 7th. Yasel Antuna single and homered and drove in two while Paul Panaccione went 2-for-4 with two RBI in relief of Cole Freeman, who appeared to be given the night off after presumably not reacting properly to popping up to the catcher in the top of the 1st. Roster moves: RHP Brigham Hill activated from the 7-Day DL.

West Virginia vs. Auburn – PPD
Rain washed away the series opener between Auburn and West Virginia They’ll make it up with a doubleheader tonight. Roster moves: RHP Tanner Driskill, LHP Aaron Fletcher reassigned from GCL..

GCL Nationals – OFF DAY
It’s home games today and Thursday and the Mets twice this week. A few more draft picks are likely to trickle in; some who may actually exist.

Sorry if reported previously, but the Nats signed 4 more picks:

3rd rounder RHP Reid Schaller from Vandy just below slot: $551K
4th rounder RHP Jake Irvin from Oklahoma $140 OVER slot: $550K
7th rounder RHP Chandler Day from Vandy right at slot: $188K
24th rounder SS Kyle Marinconz from Cal Poly: bonus not available

Currently, the Nats have signed each of their first 11 picks, except for their 1st rounder Mason Denaburg, and 10th rounder Arkansas 2b Carson Shaddy (Shaddy is still playing in the CWS which seemingly does not end).

The Nats are considerably are $200K under slot because they signed eight rounder C Tyler Cropley and 9th rounder RHP Tanner Driskill for $10K each, when both had slotted bonuses of about $150K. Both are seniors. Seniors have no leverage; so, they are at MLB teams’ mercy to sign for whatever is offered.

In other words, the Nats have the money to sign Denaburg (he is slotted just below $2.5 million) and stay within the MLB bonus pool guidelines.

Irvin had been considered a potential 2d rounder before he fell after a rough regional so obviously held out to try to get something more in line with what he thought he was worth. I’m high on Irvin, think he could move up quickly.

It will be interesting to see whether they keep Schaller in relief or try to make him a starter.

Shaddy has hit very well during Arkansas’s postseason run.

Schaller if a fast riser could fit in a future bullpen core nice especially
After this season concludes and holes will be in pen this winter
Chaz Roe looks lightning in Rays
      Bullpen

This is the real interesting part of
PD farm season when the rotation days fly by every five. Pedro Gonzales vs first place Cards de Blu with help from an unlikely guy to hit first DSL Nats HR. Danny Hernandez .
I totally missed the Sharp promotion
So now we await the TIL period for Crowe.
Perhaps we should just tip the caps to Rays last night since they just swept the Yanx . Gio gets hit by grinder lineups safe to say ?
Yes, agreement on Irwin ( and Karp) most interesting guys to step in like Crowe and Sharp to become pure QS starters next season . Any chorus thoughts on Teel??

Another former White Sox farmhand for the farm. Nick Basto after hunter jones signing this winter. Basto gives Keister some RH punch in OF bs a tough lefty.
