Erick Fedde pitched into the 7th for the first time this season and was rewarded with a no-decision as Lehigh Valley homered in the 9th to win the pitchers’ duel, 2-1. Fedde allowed on unearned run on four hits and two walks while striking out six over six and 2/3rds innings. Chris Smith gave up the gamewinner in the 9th and three hits total over two and a 1/3rd for the loss, his second. Tuffy Gosewich account for the lone Syracuse run on 4th inning solo shot but the Chiefs were held to just four hits and two walks, with Yadiel Hernandez and Jacob Wilson the only two batters to reach base twice. Roster moves: OF Rafael Bautista placed on the 7-Day DL; IF Jason Martinson activated from the 7-Day DL.
Harrisburg vs. Richmond – PPD
The Senators and Flying Squirrels were rained out again on Friday night. They’ll shoot for two tonight to make it up.
Potomac vs. Lynchburg – PPD
It’ll be six days since Potomac has played… if they play tonight. Like the Salem rainouts, the makeup date for last night is TBD.
Hagerstown vs. Delmarva – PPD
The rains claimed another game from the Suns as they were rained out for the third time this week. No makeup date has been announced.
That’s a long 7 day DL for Jason Martinson
Call up Jacob Wilson Mr Rizzo
Gil. Lend us your sage perspective
I think I’d call up Yadiel Hernandez first … has to be a better hitter than Andrew Stevenson and Michael A Taylor but the defense isn’t there. He’s been pretty consistent with the bat something that Jacob Wilson has failed at.
Looks like D. Johnson might turn the corner as well … but both Yadiel and Juan look better with the bats … Moises Sierra still holding a spot for someone and with Kendrick going on the DL that’s another …
Wilson more flexible
Jefry Rod got the call cause Burg closer to D.C. Short notice
“The team plans to promote 19-year-old prospect Juan Soto, one of the top hitters in the minor leagues, in time for Sunday’s game, according to a person familiar with the discussions. Soto was hitting .362 across three levels and was promoted to Class AA Harrisburg earlier this month, where he was batting .323 over eight games entering Saturday.”
Looks like Batista is out for the season http://www.masnsports.com/byron-kerr/2018/05/bautista-out-for-season-plus-news-on-wieters-goodwin-and-26th-man.html
Given all the injuries it sure begins to look like Juan Soto might be the Nats best option for the 2nd half. I am guessing be is a better fielder than Mark Reynolds and Matt Adams and a far better hitter than Michael A Taylor and Andrew Stevenson at a very young 19 years old.
Did Wiseman get a call up to Harrisburg with Soto going to D.C.??
Banks should move up to Potomac
I think they need Yadiel in DC as well.
That’s who I thought they would call up–except it was Soto instead.
Forget the second half–Soto just got called up. WOW!
