Good, Bad, Interesting – Vol. 1
It’s back! Your monthly look at who’s hot, who’s not, and who’s (or what’s) surprising in the Nationals minors.
For those not familiar… This is something stolen from named after comedian Demetri Martin’s segment of the same name from his too-brief TV show from 2009 or so (i.e., around the time this site started).
Invariably, whenever a player makes this list—good or bad—his fortune seems to turns. Intellectually, we know that’s merely coincidence, but superstition will always have a place in baseball narrative, even as analytics has crossed the rubicon from acceptance to speciousness (e.g., exit velocity). Nevertheless, this sequence of events is known as “the curse of the GBI.”
Now, for the obligatory caveats… it’s early, sample sizes are small and statistically insignificant, minor-league stats aren’t as meaningful as MLB stats, void where prohibited, valid only at participating locations, etc.
And the usual reminders: The guys, their families, their wives, their girlfriends, perhaps a boyfriend here and there, and of course, their agents are known to be reading this, too. Let’s keep it civil in the comments. This is just for fun.

FYI, it looks like you copy/pasted the Hagerstown “Interesting” bat from last year.
Thanks – now fixed.
Congrats to Andrew Stevenson, who has now accumulated enough MLB service time to “graduate” from prospect status. I notice MLB.com got him off of the Nats Top 30 prospects list a lot faster than they did Severino, who went nearly 20 days beyond his service time limit before his graduation was acknowledged.
Both of the ‘good’ Chiefs are now with the big club; Austin Voth got called up today.
No doubt because Adams looked more like The Addams Family yesterday.
Are there any names that we should be pleased or disappointed with?
It’s still his first week back but Drew Ward is still hitless
Um, trying be positive…. he has 4 walks.
