Oddly enough Sens could use another lefty in pen.
No everyday promotions but August is early .

Any word why Harrisburg pinch-hit for Robles in the middle of a closely contested game? If that had happened before the trade deadline, Twitter would have melted down.

No – Mick Reinhard chalked it up to the rain, which makes sense given that he injured himself at Potomac on a wet field. Of course, it’s not like the Senators manager has a history of punishing players for perceived missteps…

      1. Luke Erickson says:

As predicted: “After the game, LeCroy discussed that it pertained to Robles’ technique in the outfield. “We’re working on him catching the ball correctly,” the skipper said. ‘It had to be addressed. He understands.'”

Thanks. Interesting that they think it’s such an issue that they have to pull him from the game to get his attention.

He was waiting until the last second to lift his glove, catching the ball like a hockey goalie rather than an outfielder.

Has Yadiel Hernandez played himself into a role with the big league team?

He’s now batting .278/.362/.414, and .387/.435/.597 in 19 games since the All Star Break.

He could be a real dark horse candidate for a OF bench role next season, but could be an interesting option for some ABs in September.

    1. KW says:

He turns 30 in October, so the sooner they can figure out if they see a major-league future for him, the better.

Finding a 40-man spot for him this October might be problematic, though. With Werth and Glover on the 60-day DL, they will have to clear 40-man slots to activate them. Gott just had sports hernia surgery, so he’s a 60-day candidate.

Spencer Kieboom is another one playing well enough to get into the October cup-of-coffee conversation, but again, they would have to find a 40-man spot for him.

      1. Karl Kolchak says:
        August 5, 2017 at 12:47 pm

Hernandez will only be a second year player, so they can use him as depth without giving him a 40-man spot until he’s needed.

I also doubt Kieboom’s status will change unless there is an injury to Wieters or Lobaton. It’s just too bad Wieters will almost certainly exercise his player option. No one would pay him even half as much next year given how bad he’s been.

    2. Karl Kolchak says:
      August 5, 2017 at 12:41 pm

A better bet is AAA depth next year. Of course, if the OF turns into a MASH unit again, he could see a lot of MLB playing time.

Good point both ways guys .
Good bang for buck by Rizzo

Is it just me on these two points ?
Bryce has to put on his Superman outfit to drive Nats deep into October. That would be a first .
Wilmer Difo hair style makes me think of lead singer hair doo from 80s Bow Wow Wow??
Give me another beer . Dog

I watched a couple of videos on Robles from Friday night. He does not take the best routes, but still easily gets to balls in the gap. His defensive potential is scary.

      Where is Gary Thurman now?
Interesting to see in time if Raffie Bautista in GCL rehab rubbed off on Santo Falcon and Juan Evangelista ?? Falcon to Falcon Park someday. Destiny
