• Falu 2-3, R, HR, RBI
• Robinson 2-3, R
Irving Falu’s solo shot to lead off the 7th stood up as the Chiefs’ bullpen didn’t blow it for a 2-1 win over the Bison, the third straight for Syracuse and the longest win streak since April. Only 21 more to go to reach .500! Jaron Long got the win with seven innings of one-run ball on five hits and one walk while fanning seven. Erick Fedde pitched a scoreless 8th for the hold, his first at AAA, while Austin Adams worked around a hit in the 9th for the save. Falu and Clint Robinson both went 2-for-3 with a run scored to lead the Chiefs’ offense. Roster moves: UT Wilmer Difo recalled to Washington; OF Joey Butler placed on the 7-Day DL; IF Neftali Soto reassigned from Harrisburg.

McGowin gave up 11 hits and two walks over five innings for his second AA loss of the season. Jimmy Cordero gave up the final run in his two innings of work while R.C. Orlan pitched a 1-2-3 eighth to finish up. Joe “Orange” Marmolejos had two singles and an RBI, Darian Sandford had one single and one double, and the rest of the lineup went 1-for-21 with five walks. Roster move: OF Isaac Ballou activated from 3-Day TIL.

• Wiseman 2-4, R, 2B
• Masters 1-3, 2R, BB
Victor Robles was a single shy of the cycle, highlighting an otherwise disappointing outing for the P-Nats, who blew a 6-3 lead after seven innings to lose 11-6 to the Mudcats. Hector Silvestre started and went the first five, allowing two runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out seven. Tyler Skulina, Ronald Pena, and Jorge Pantoja combined to cough up eight runs over the final two innings, with a blown save and a loss going to Pena. Robles drove in four, Taylor Gushue and Matt Page one each to lead the Potomac offense.

Mills put up seven goose eggs and allowed three hits as he won his eighth game while striking out eight. Fuentes gave up the fourth hit and completed the game with two scoreless innings. Daniel Johnson and Tres Barrera both went 3-for-4 and accounted for all four RBI, three by Johnson, who also hit his league-leading 14th HR.

• Shepard 2-4, R, 2B, HR, RBI

The Doubledays led just once, 1-0 after four and 1/2 innings, as they dropped another 5-4 decision to Mahoning Valley. Ben Braymer didn’t make it out of the fifth as the Scrappers got to him for three runs on five hits and four walks over four and 1/3rd innings. He struck out six and a hit batter. The loss went to Joe Baltrip, who gave up two over two and 2/3rds on four hits, including a home run. Chance Shepard doubled and homered to lead the Auburn offense.
I was at Nats Park last night, and let’s just say I hope to never see Difo in CF ever again, at least not until he learns to play the position. The Nats probably would have won 5-3 in regulation without his “contributions,” even though they were not officially counted as errors.
Why, oh why, didn’t they call up Bautista if they specifically needed a CF? I wrote something pretty similar on Todd’s site.
On the flip side, congrats to Goodwin, who looks like he might be finally “graduating” for good from Nats Prospects.
I think Bautista is still on the DL.
Yes he is
You know Lady Luck ( cue the journey song ) is on your side
When SS gives up 5 but team rallies.
Dusty has diamond dust.
See there has been positive from thePT from Eaton injury
16 HR from Goodwin and MAT.
denDekker who?
Let’s hope this Baylor kid plays like Warren Cromartie lite
Wow, looks like Robles, Johnson, and Mc Mills are getting impatient for promotion! Big nights from all of them. Mills would have been draft age this year if he had gone to college. I’ve been a critic of how little the Nats are getting out of the top of their 2014 draft, but Mills is looking like at least one redeeming element.
Would everybody agree that these players deserving of Potomac pink slips need to await some of the June NCAA draft kids reporting from Viera processing ???
I’m with Luke on not ‘Rhineharting’ anyone but there are 4-5 guys in. Hagerstown and Potomac who are way past time for promotion.
I didn’t realize Bautista was on the DL, but that is still no excuse for Dusty putting Difo in c.f. He needs to go back to Syracuse and maybe learn how to run the bases, too.
Orange looks ready as well.
I can not wait for Monday. I am dying to see who plays where on the GCL Nats.
