Syracuse followed a familiar script on Friday night as they got enough pitching to win, but not enough hitting as they were shut out, 3-0 by Toledo. Jaron Long gave up all three Mud Hens runs on eight hits and no walks while striking out five but lost for the second time at AAA this season. Steve Lombardozzi, Matt den Dekker, and Jhonatan Solano each had two hits while Scott Sizemore drew three walks, but the clutch hit eluded the Chiefs as they went 0-for-7 with RISP and left nine men on base.

Greg Ross continues to dominate AA with yet another seven scoreless innings, but the bullpen imploded in the 9th to turn a 2-0 Senators lead into a 3-2 loss to the Fisher Cats. Ross allowed six hits, walked two, and hit a batter in the no-decision. Nick Lee sandwiched out between a solo HR and a single before giving way to Derek Self, who walked one intentionally and one unintentionally before giving up a double (also unintentionally) to both blow the save and lose the game. Kevin Keyes’s two-run HR in the 2nd accounted for both Harrisburg runs while Christopher Bostick and Neftali Soto both went 2-for-4 to lead the Sens hit column.

There was another bullpen meltdown, but this one was by Lynchburg as Potomac rallied for four in the 7th to turn 4-2 deficit into the eventual outcome of 6-4. Boone Whiting got the Jack Morris win with all four Hillcat runs let in on a walk and seven hits, including two homers. Matt Spann and Ryan Brinley combined for three innings of scoreless relief for the hold (#1) and the save (#10) respectively. Andrew Stevenson reach based four times with a walk, a single, and two doubles to lead the 11-hit, one-walk attack.

Hagerstown 3 Lexington 1– GAME ONE

The Suns posted a picket fence in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th and held off the Legends for 3-1 win in the opener. Joan Baez turned in five innings of one-run ball on three hits and three walks while striking out seven for the win. Mick VanVossen tossed two scoreless innings to notch the save, his sixth. Rhett Wiseman singled, doubled, and scored a run while Jorge Tillero singled twice and drove in a run to pace the Hagerstown offense.

Grant DeBruin and Jakson Reetz both connected for two-run HRs as Hagerstown completed the doubleheader sweep with a 5-1 win over Lexington. Taylor Guilbeau was credited with the win with four scoreless innings thrown, allowing two hits, one walk, and fanning six. Matthew Page accounted for the fifth RBI with a single in the 2nd following Rhett Wiseman’s walk and steal of second.

The Doubledays jumped on the IronBirds for two in the 1st but it was all Aberdeen thereafter in a 9-2 loss in the series finale. McKenzie Mills suffered the loss with five runs charged to him on two hits, three walks, and hit batsman over four and 1/3rd innings. Randy Enacarnacion and Nick Banks both went 2-for-4 while the Auburn offense went 0-for-10 with RISP and left on seven men.
