Syracuse completed the four-game sweep of Pawtucket with a 3-1 win. John Lannan evened his record at 6-6 with a run (albeit on a home run) on six hits over six innings, with two walks and three strikeouts. The Chiefs had just six hits, but drew six walks — three by Chris Marrero. Henry Rodriguez was in major-league form, issuing two four-pitch walks while earning the save. Gwinnett comes to town for four as Syracuse wraps up a three-week stretch in New York before an eight-game swing through NC and VA next week.

The bats were DOA and the gloves were MIA as Harrisburg fell 6-1 in Portland. The Senators collected just seven hits, stranding eight runners, while committing a season-high (low?) four errors as the Sea Dogs put up three in the 3rd and two in the 4th to put this away. Starter Rob Gilliam gave up all six runs on nine hits and two walks while setting down just two on strikes. Jimmy Van Ostrand was the sole batter to get multiple hits, singling twice in four at-bats. After a short ride down 95 and over on 101, the Senators visit the New Hampshire Fisher Cats for the next four games before returning to City Island on Tuesday.

A three-run 4th broke open a 1-0 game as the Lakewood BlueClaws took a 4-0 lead and held on for a 5-3 win at Hagerstown. Kylin Turnbull suffered the loss, giving up all five runs on six hits and two walks. He struck out two. Cutter Dykstra singled, doubled, scored a run and stole a base to lead the Suns offense, which was held to seven baserunners. Greg Holt and Chris McKenzie both turned in two scoreless innings of relief.

Some 373 miles north of Woodbridge, the Auburn Doubledays also went into extras and walked off, 6-5 in 11 innings. Stephen Perez drove in the tying run with an RBI single and scored from third two batters later on an IF single. The rally took Cody Davis off the hook, as the reliever gave up a run on a pair of doubles in the top of the 11th in his third inning of work. He also struck out five. Perez, Estarlin Martinez, and Carlos Lopez each had two hits as the Doubledays registered 10 hits total. Auburn hits the road this weekend for three against Williamsport.

A three-run 5th broke a 1-1 tie as the GCL Nationals clipped the GCL Cardinals, 4-1. Josh Smoker got the win in relief of Ivan Pineyro, as the two combined to strike out 10 over the seven-inning contest. Diomedes Eusebio led the hit column with a 3-3 game.

Wander Suero and Elisaul Gomez combined to strike out 13 with Gomez getting the win in relief. Yermin Mercedes paced the offense with a 3-for-4 afternoon.
