Bunch a moves that past couple of days. Without further ado…

• Activated LHP Tom Milone from 7-Day DL

• Activated OF Archie Gilbert from 7-Day DL, assigned to Potomac
• Received C Miguel Perez in trade with Pittsburgh Pirates
• Assigned C Brian Peacock to Potomac

• Placed J.P. Ramirez on 7-Day DL
• Assigned C Andruth Ramirez to GCL
• Placed IF Justin Bloxom on 7-Day DL
• Assigned IF Sean Nicol from Hagerstown

• Activated RHP Ben Graham from 7-Day DL

• Assigned RHP Tyler Hanks from Hagerstown

• Assigned IF Roberto Perez from Auburn

I’ve been told that Gilbert’s stay will be just a few days. Byron Kerr has also passed along word in his latest column that LHP Sammy Solis has been experiencing elbow inflammation, so it might be another turn or two before he’s back on the mound.

A few more moves today, August 10, in red.

  1. We sent Miguel Perez to Pittsburgh for a PTBNL earlier this season. I never saw that we received that player. And now we’ve received Perez in a trade … and I can’t help but wonder if we traded Perez for Perez.

  2. Boy, this Perez deal is a head scratcher. We’re probably in better shape with catchers than 25-28 organizations, so you have to figure this was a loan or he has injury problems. Poor Brian Peacock, I hope their training him to be a coach or something, I’m sure they’re paying him squat.

    • Mark, you & Springfield are all over this one already. I know PIT was having a depth crisis at CA earlier this year, but Springfield may be onto something – we possibly re-acquired Perez as the PTBNL off the 06/27/11 trade to Indianapolis.

  3. Hmm, with Graham being activated, the corresponding move might be Weaver to the DL. He hasn’t pitched since Aug 1st, and been less than overwhelming in his nine appearances with HAG.
