Transaction Update

March 21, 2024

Still here, just waiting for the regular season to start.

Meanwhile, yesterday we got an idea as to who we probably won’t see north of Florida anytime soon (60-Day I.L. unless otherwise specified):

  • RHP Pablo Aldonis
  • LHP Jake Bennett
  • RHP Christian Cifetelli
  • LHP Peyton Glavine
  • RHP Reid Schaller (full season)
  • RHP Seth Shuman
  • LHP Jared Simpson
  • LHP Erik Tolman
  • RHP Tyler Yankosky

As noted previously, since the MLB doup d’état, transaction information seems to be flowing faster and more freely. It’s almost as if there were something else influencing these decisions.

March 17, 2024

Following today’s 9-8 win vs. the Mets, the Nats announced six more cuts to the major-league camp:

• RHP Robert Gsellman

The moves reduce the number of healthy players to 39—per Mark Zuckerman—with seven games left in Florida before the team heads north to play a dress rehearsal for Opening Day majors-minors exhibition on the 26th.

Mets Double Up Nats, 4-2 in Spring Breakout

March 16, 2024

In between the endless prattling from the SNY broadcasters, former college coaches, sideline reporters, and the Mets front office, there was a game yesterday afternoon in which the Mets’ top prospects beat their Nationals counterparts, 4-2. As was feared/loathed in comments, the Nats trotted out seven pitchers over seven innings. Jackson Rutledge was the first …

Nats Drum Astros, 5-3; Shifting Gears

March 15, 2024

The Nats rallied for three with two out in the 5th and held on for a 5-3 win over the Astros. There were no watchlisters in the starting lineup and, as usual, no watchlist pitchers appeared in the game. Here’s how “our guys” did coming off the bench… Trey Lipscomb subbed for CJ Abrams at …

Nats Edge Marlins, 2-1

March 14, 2024

After losing a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 7th, the Nats responded in the top of the 8th with a double, single, and a fielder’s choice to reclaim the lead at 2-1, which the bullpen held for Washington’s fourth straight ST win. Four watchlist players were in the starting lineup and played the …

Nats Fold Cards; First Cuts Announced

March 11, 2024

The bullpen fell apart in the late innings, but here’s the switch – it was the Cards, not the Nats, who faltered to turn a 4-1 lead into an 11-4 loss this afternoon. Jacob Young was the sole watchlister in the starting lineup as the 24-y.o. played CF and batted ninth. He went 2-for-3 with …

Nats Don’t Lose, 7-3

March 10, 2024

It might not have been pretty—four runs scored on an error and three sacrifice flies —but the Nats stopped a four-game slide with a 7-3 win over the Twins this afternoon. James Wood also broke out of a mini-slump with a single, triple, and two runs scored while starting in right field. He was the …
