Notes: A three-run walkoff HR sent the Lake Monsters to a 6-4 defeat, dropping them below .500 and into third place, one game behind Tri-City and a ½ game behind Connecticut with seven games left to play.
So, SYR lives to fight yet another day, HAR gets a though luck loss, and POT splits, but they hold their leads. It looks like Vermont’s season is headed to a dissapointing conclusion.
S_D: Do you think that the Nationals will hold off on their Sept. callups until all the minor-league clubs finish the year, or not?
Off-topic, but sorry to see Brian shutting down NFA – He’s been a great source of info for the last 5 years. Hoping you and April can continue to “feed the beast” through this site for some time to come.
I’m hoping they do. My gut says that they’ll draw from Syracuse first, then Harrisburg after the playoffs.
mlbtraderumors just published the reverse standings for the 2011 MLB draft: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/reversestandings/
Looks like the Nats can’t do any worse than pick 9th next year (where they presently sit), but there is a huge pack of 6 teams between #3 (Seattle) and #9 (the Nats) which are only separated by 4.5 games. The Diamondbacks will get the #7 pick regardless for failing to sign Barret Loux; so, the D-backs will get two top picks next year.
I like that phrase — ‘The Beast Feeder’.
Thursday morning, and I am reporting for my first day as a NFA refugee. I believe you will have a lot more regulars at this site now.
Seems Yuniesky Maya had himself a good night in Syracuse.
Sue, I’m updating my roster of Nats bloggers for post-season awards voting. please contact me directly if you’re interested so I can add you to the email distribution list etc.
Hope you’ll join.
Best,
Dave
