AFL Update: October 21, 2011
Another light afternoon for the Nats farmhands in Arizona Fall League as the Scottsdale Scorpions fell for the 10th time by a 4-1 count.
Bryce Harper returned to the lineup and went 1-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout while playing left field, where he made two putouts. After 10 games, Harper is working a .211/.302/.395 line.
Zach Walters was the designated hitter but went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts, lowering his triple-slash stats to .200/.250/.267.
Scottsdale finishes out the week with afternoon tilts against Surprise today and Phoenix tomorrow.
Was googling Purke and came across this site. Just wanted to throw my observations out since I watched my rangers players in surprise, az today.
Box score was pretty ugly to start off. Some did better than it showed. Purke didn’t seem like pitcher the nats expected. Fell behind the hitters and left balls up. Scoreboard radar was 88-90 mainly. Lehman was guy I never really heard of but impressed more than box score. Got ahead of hitters with 90-92 and kept hitters off balance with slider and change up I think. 3 weak hits and a double ended his day before Martin gave up the rest of his runs. Martin threw fb’s 88-90 with movement. Didn’t have the same control but manage to throw a clean inning after the 5 or 6 runs in the 8th. Hope this helps. Just my two cents since I came across this site in my search
Appreciate the feedback. We have a couple of your former farmhands in our system (Tatusko, Roark) while I personally follow another on Twitter (Michael Schlact) who’s just a good guy by all accounts and is also local to us by virtue of playing for the closest indy team (So. Maryland Blue Crabs).
