Four Red Wings went deep in an 8-1 thrashing of the RailRiders. Jackson Kent fell an out short of his third quality start but picked up his eighth AAA win with the lone Scranton/Wilkes-Barre/Anderson/Bruford/Wakeman/Howe run allowed on a HR and three hits total. He walked two and struck out five. Trey Lipscomb and Leandro Pineda both singled, homered, and drove in two while Max Romero Jr. and Sam Petersen also went deep. Roster moves: OF Johnathon Thomas reassigned from Harrisburg; LHP Konnor Pilkington, OF Joey Weimer released; RHP Cole Henry activated from the 7-Day I.L.

Alex Clemmey put up a goose egg in the 2nd, but did not fare as well in the 1st, 3rd, and 4th as Chesapeake manhandled Harrisburg, 8-1 in the opener. Clemmey allowed eight runs on four homers and eight hits total while walking three and striking out five. The Senators singled three times in the 1st inning but came away with just one run as Ethan Petry delivered Branden Boissiere in from second with two outs to break up the shutout. T.J. White had the other two hits in the 2nd and 7th while Elijah Green drew the sole walk for Harrisburg.

The BaySox completed the doubleheader sweep with a 2-1 win in the nightcap to take a 2-1 series lead. Josh Randall gave up both Chesapeake runs on four hits and two walks while striking out three. Branden Bossiere homered in the 6th to end the shutout while Ethan Petry doubled and Cortland Lawson and Kervin Pichardo both singled to comprise the Sens’ hit column. Roster moves: OF Elijah Green reassigned from Wilmington; IF Devin Fitz-Gerald activated from 7-Day I.L.; IF Miguel Villarroel released.

The Blue Rocks came back from a 4-3 deficit to take an 8-4 lead going into the 9th. That proved to be too small for the Wilmington throw…er, relievers to hold as Jake Roberts and Jackson Dannelly gave up six runs combined to lose, 10-8. Carson Fischer started and pitched into the 5th, but was spun for four runs on five hits (one HR) and four walks while striking out two. Eli Willits singled twice, scored twice, and drove in two while Angel Feliz singled, doubled, and drove in three as the offense did its part with 12 hits, including five in nine RISP chances. Roster moves: C Nate Rombach activated from the Developmental List.

Fredericksburg blew a 3-1 lead but got gift in the bottom of the 10th as Delmarva balked in the winning run, 5-4 in 10 innings for a 2-0 series lead, the first since June 16-17 against Salem. Landon Harmon pitched into the 4th and allowed a solo HR and four hits total without a walk and four whiffs. Jacob Weaver gave the lead away three runs let in during the 7th. Gus Hughes walked two and struck out two while putting up goose eggs in the 9th and 10th innings to earn his first win of ’26. Luke Dickerson homered, tripled, and walked in the 10th and was trying to steal when the Shorebirds flinched for the balk. Hunter Hines doubled twice and Sir Jamison Jones homered in the 7th to tie the game.
DSL NYY Yankees vs. DSL Nationals ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Given the number of games that didn’t get played yesterday in the DSL, the most likely deduction is that the game was canceled but wasn’t reported by the system because it had been a makeup game from last week.
Wow, some pretty bold moves, I like it! Thomas and Green certainly haven’t earned promotions, but with their increasing ages, it’s now or never. I wish the club did this more often with guys on their last rope. Give them a big challenge and let them sink or swim, rather than unceremoniously burying them on the Development List for 3 months before quietly releasing them.
Good to see Cashel Dugger get assigned early. Under the previous regime, it always annoyed me how slow we were to assign many of our draftees (college bats – Kevin Bazzell didn’t appear until Aug 21 and Sam Petersen Aug 31), and quite a few didn’t appear at all (Boston Smith, Jack Moroknek and Juan Cruz just to name a few from last year’s draft). I hope now that we’ve cleared out quite a few roster spots in A ball, we’ll see Hacopian, Brunson and Cuvet VERY soon!

Of all the disappointing pitching performances this year in the minors, Clemmey has got to be right at the top. Yes, yes, he’s still young and you can’t give up on his stuff, but at some point he has to put it together. A this point, i don’t think he ever will. Wouldn’t be surprised if he’s a throw in an offseason trade to a team who thinks they can “fix” him.
That’s a really harsh take. He has 3 bad months as a 20 year old in AA and you’re ready to give up on him?

Trey Lipscomb’s improvment and his multipositional capability greatly enhances that he will have a major league future. He is defensive is solid, if not above average, at three different infield spots. He play OF, and after looking like his power would never develop, Lipscomb is slugging .513 with 19 bombs in 94 games. He can also run a little bit. The Dodgers treasure guys like this.
Will be interesting to see what the Nats choose to do with him after this season, because if Toboni doesn’t have a spot for him on the MLB roster, there will be other franchises that will be happy to take him.
Since Alex Call is still with the Dodgers, I agree, Lipscomb could also be attractive to other teams.
