Rochester 2 Scranton/Wilkes-Barre 0
• Champlain 4⅔ IP, 2H, 0R, 1BB, 5K
• Rutledge (W, 1-0) 1⅓ IP, 0H, 0R, 1BB, 2K,

• Morales 2-4, R, 2B

Five Rochester pitchers combined to shut out Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, 2-0 on two hits. Chandler Champlain gave up both RailRiders singles, walked one, an struck out five but fell one out shy of getting the “W.” That went to Jackson Rutledge, who stranded two while getting the last out in the 5th and worked around a walk imn the 6th. Paxton Schultz, Orlando Ribalta, and Eddie Yean put up donuts in the last three frames to close it out. Yoyo Morales singled and doubled while Elijah Green Andrew Pinckney homered the one time he did not strike out to pace the Red Wings offense.
Altoona 6 Harrisburg 1
• Clemmey (L, 0-1) 3⅓ IP, 2H, 2R, 2ER, 6BB, 4K
• Amaral 2IP, 2H, 0R, 1BB, 1K
• Pichardo 2-4
• Rogers 1-3, BB, 2B, SB
Alex Clemmey walked six to push his season total to 15 (in 12⅓ innings) in a 6-1 Sens loss to the Curve. The 20-y.o. needed 72 pitches to get 10 outs and was charged with two runs on two hits as he lost for the first time in four starts. Neither Holden Powell nor Sandy Gaston were less ineffective as the 2-1 lead ballooned by four until Austin Amaral mopped up in the 8th and 9th. Meanwhile, the Harrisburg batters were held to six hits and two walks, with Sam Petersen preventing the shutout with his fourth HR. Roster moves: RHP Austin Amaral reassigned from Wilmington.
Frederick 18 Wilmington 2
• Maddox (L, 1-2) 4⅔ IP, 7H, 3R, 3ER, 1BB, 5K, HBP
• Diaz 1-3, 2R, HR, RBI, HBP
• Nunez 1-3, BB
Wilmington’s reversion to the mean continued with an 18-2 defenestration by Frederick. Riley Maddox took the loss as the Keys scratched him for three runs on seven hits and a walk over four and 2/3rds. The “bullpen” did the rest of the damage, allowing 15 runs on nine hits and three walks over the last three and a 1/3rd. Randal Diaz scored both Blue Rocks runs, the first on a balk, the second on his third HR. He was also hit by a pitch. Elijah Nunez was the only other Wilmington batter to reach base twice as the rest of the lineup went 2-for-28 with two walks.
Fredericksburg 7 Salem 6 (10 inn.)
• Meckley 4IP, 2H, 1R, 1ER, 3BB, 4K, 2WP
• Olson (BS, 1; W, 3-0) 2IP, 1H, 1R, 1ER, 1BB, 4K
• Dickerson 3-5, 2R, 2-2B, 3B, 2RBI
• Williams 2-4, 3B, CS
• Cabrera 2-5, R, RBI, 2K
The FredNats ‘pen blew a 6-1 lead to force extras but were bailed out by Jack Moroknek’s two-out single in the 10th and Bryant Olson cordero’ing around two stolen bases by striking out the side for the (dreaded) blown-save-win, 7-6. Xander Meckley went the first four innings and let in one runs on two hits and three walks while striking out four. Luke Dickerson doubled twice and tripled once while Jordan Williams and Yeremy Cabrera both singled twice to lead the FredNats attack.
Luke I caught that Elijah Green
Snarkle
that’s one tough lineup on the Frederick Keys. Maddox battled with all he had to hold them down. he got pulled after 72 pitches with a runner on and Victor Figueroa coming up. on the next pitch Victor hit one that may be just landing as I finish this sentence.
Fitz-Gerald out of the lineup for a second straight game. fingers crossed.
Petry is a big dude and looks more than adequate at first base.
Elijah Green update.
– 15 Games.
– 59 ABs
– 35 Ks.
– .153/.261/.322 slash line batting cleanup for your Wilmington Blue Rocks
Over/Under on his release date? June 1? Hate to speak ill of the guy, but he’s in his 5th pro season and at this point he’s taking ABs away from guys on the Wilmington roster who may have more promise.
