Rochester vs. Syracuse – PPD
Rochester and bad weather have gone together like Trump and corruption in 2025 as the Red Wings did not play for the 11th time this season. They’ll make it up this afternoon with a twi-night doubleheader.

Jared McKenzie’s solo HR in the bottom of the 7th gave the Senators a 3-2 lead, but the bullpen gave it right back in the top of the 8th and gave it away in the 10th to lose, 4-3. Riley Cornelio turned in another quality start, with two runs let in on three hits and a walk and seven whiffs. Junior Santos gave up a leadoff double to plate the free runner and take the loss, his second. McKenzie also doubled to go 2-for-5, a mark matched by Joe Naranjo and Phillip Glasser, who also stole his fifth base. The Senators were a woeful 2-for-13 with RISP and left on 11 men on base.

Wilmington led 7-2 after four but gaveup six unanswered runs and were walked off in the 9th for an 8-7 loss. Travis “Sunday” Sthele pitched five innings, allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits (one HR) and two walks. He struck out five in the no-decision. Peyton Glaving coughed up the lead with three in the 7th for the blown save while Samuel Vasquez gave up a leadoff triple and a sac fly in the 9th to take the loss. Seaver King singled three times and scored twice, as did T.J. White while reaching base three times on two singles and a walk. The Blue Rocks left on 11 baserunners, including two in the 8th inning after getting their final runner into scoring position with one out.

Christhian Vaquero’s two-out solo HR walked ’em off as the FredNats overcame a 3-0 deficit after five innings to take the opener, 4-3. Yoel Tejeda pitched into the 5th and allowed two runs on seven hits four walks while striking out two. The win went to Johan Otanez who put on two baserunners in the 7th but rolled a key double play to strand baserunner #15 for the MudCats. Vaquero also singled and scored a run in the 6th to start a three-run rally, highlighted by a two-run single by Kevin Bazzell.

Fredericksburg kept the party going with three in the 1st but didn’t get the pitching to make that stand up as Carolina doubled ’em, 6-3 to split the doubleheader. Angel Roman was lit like a, um, candle for three runs on three hits and a walk over four innings. He struck out four and hit a batter. The loss went to Merritt Beeker on two runs allowed on five walks and one hit over an inning-plus. Luke Dickerson doubled twice, scored once, and walked once while Jorgelys Mota had an RBI single – one of two (2) hits in ten RISP chances.

Five FCL Nationals pitchers combined to shut out the FCL Mets, 12-0 on six hits. Leuris Portorreal went the first three and allowed three hits, no walks, and struck out two. The “W” went to Pablo Aldonos, who retired the side in order in the 5th and caught two looking. Angel Feliz singled, doubled, scored two runs, and drove in two (pay no attention to the two errors) while Sam Petersen reached base three times on two safeties and a base-on-balls to lead the F-Nats attack.
