Rochester 7 Durham 5
• Shuman (W, 1-1) 6IP, 6H, 3R, 3ER, 0BB, 3K, 2HR
• Salazar (SV, 1) 1IP, 1H, 1R, 0ER, 0BB, 2K

• Lile 2-5, R, RBI, SB
• Lipscomb 1-3, BB, 2RBI, CS
The Red Wings erased a three-run deficit with a five-run 5th and held off a late charge by the Bulls to take the series finale, 7-5. Seth Shuman turned in his third quality start of the season but finally won his first game with three runs let in on six hits (two HR) over six innings. He walked none and struck out three. Darren Baker and Daylen Lile both singled twice and combined to score three runs to lead the Rochester offense.
Harrisburg 6 Altoona 4
• Schultz 2IP, 1H, 2R, 2ER, 2BB, 3K
• Davila (W, 3-2) 1IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 0K
• Cuevas (SV, 6) 1IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 1K
• Morales 2-4, R
• Wallace 1-4, R, HR(GS), 4RBI, E
Cayden Wallace’s grand slam in the 1st got the party started and six relievers made it stand up as Harrisburg held on to beat Altoona, 6-4. Thomas Schultz was the opener but was dinged for two runs over two innings. Garrett Davila was credited with the win with a scoreless 5th inning pitched while Michael Cuevas retired the side in order in the 9th to earn the save, his sixth. Yoyo Morales was the sole batter to reach base twice (two singles) as the Senators mustered six hits and one walk total.
Jersey Shore 6 Wilmington 4
• W. Arias (L, 0-3) 3⅔ IP, 7H, 4R, 4ER, 1BB, 2K, HR, HBP, WP, PO @ 1B
• Cáceres 3IP, 0H, 0R, 1BB, 5K
• Boisserie 3-4, 2R, 2-2B(6)
• White 2-3, R, BB, HR, 2RBI
The BlueClaws scored in three of its first five “ups” and held off the Blue Rocks to hand Wilmington a 6-4 loss. Wander Arias made his fourth start and pitched into the 4th for the 1st time, but suffered his third loss with four runs allowed on seven hits (one HR) and a walk. He struck out two and hit a batter. Branden Bosseirie singled once, doubled twice, and scored twice, including ahead of T.J. White’s two-run HR in 8th that brought the Blue Rocks within striking distance. Alas, Wilmington went in order in the 9th.
Fredericksburg 7 Delmarva 2
• Da. Garcia (W, 2-2) 5⅔ IP, 2H, 1R, 1ER, 3BB, 8K, HR
• Beeker (H, 1) ⅓ IP, H, R, ER, BB, K
• Nunez 2-3, R
• Vaquero 2-4, R, BB
• Ross 2-5, R
Luke Dickerson’s bases-clearing double turned a 1-0 deficit into a 3-1 lead as Fredericksburg downed Delmarva, 7-2 in the series finale. Davian Garcia pitched into the 6th for the first time in his pro career, allowing one run on a home run and two hits total. He walked three and struck out eight (also a career high). Elijah Nunez, Cristhian Vaquero, and Jackson Ross each had two singles and scored a run to pace the FredNats attack.
FCL Nationals, 6-5, 3rd place FCL East, 1GB
The F-Nats are averaging 5.73 R/G, which is fourth-best in the FCL, and nearly a run better than Senators (4.74 R/G), which may explain they’re the only two affiliates close to.500. Perhaps more encouraging: the group of batters is roughly league average at 19.6 y.o. The pitchers skew older—21.5 vs. 20.8 Lg. Avg.—which is skewed somewhat by the usual round of rehabbers. This week, they’re home for games on Tuesday and Wednesday, in Jupiter today (F-Cards) and Thursday (F-Marlins), Port St. Lucie on Friday, and off on Saturday.
Would you look at that! A day with a winning record. I’m genuinely not sure if this has happened yet this season.
In other news, Green got sent to the Florida XST complex, after
hittingmissing .171/.271/.260 in Wilmington. His strikeout rate was 45.7%.Hopefully there’s someone there who can teach him some plate discipline, because that coach doesn’t exist in the FCL, Fredericksburg or Wilmington.
Meanwhile, Daylen Lile and Yohandy Morales keep hitting. Lile is now batting .369/.431/.538 in an ever increasing sample size of 16 games in Rochester. And Morales’ AVG is up to .311. He’s now played 104 games in Harrisburg and seems to have figured things out. You have to think a promotion for him should come soon, especially when Rochester’s starting 1B is presently hitting .192/.276/.275.
I thought Morales was back at playing mostly 3B.
That’s correct: 19 games at 3B; 9 at 1B; 3 DH.
Maybe Yohandy goes up to Rochester when House goes to the Nats. It’s coming.
For Lile, how much longer does this need to continue (ISO more than .050 higher than last year, k% more than 5pp lower, and at a higher level) before he starts looking like a borderline top 100 prospect?
Morales really should be there already. It’s now over 250 PAs of AA with a wRC+ over 150 since he returned from his thumb injury last August. And, this year, there’s been plenty of game power, which was the main worry in all the write-ups dropping him last summer.
Jose Feliz off to an amazing start. if the pitchcast numbers from his last game can be believed he was barely hitting 90 with his four seamer. I wouldn’t be surprised if they took it slowly with him.
Cranz’s line for his last seven appearances: 9IP, 2H, 0R, 1BB, 16K. I guess there was a reason he got some mentions in prospect lists.
the Sally League hitters have an .891 OPS against Jackson Kent in their home parks but only .491 when they travel to Wilmington. SSS but something to fuel the Frawley Stadium debate.
when Cuevas comes in to protect a Sens lead you can start packing up. he has averaged 10 pitches per outing and has not been scored on since being designated the closer 8 games ago. time will tell if he keeps that job now that Schultz is there but he’s doing al he can.
if Pilkington could find the strike zone more frequently he could get the chance to replace Chafin when the latter inevitably falters.
Interesting about Feliz’s velo numbers. Surely even in the FCL, pitchers with that sort of velocity can’t put up the dominant stats he has to date. Now that Dickerson is gone, the FCL Nats are all about the Felizes.
Speaking of the FCL, what happened to Sam Petersen? He was rehabbing, but hasn’t played since May 6, and there hasn’t been a corresponding IL move yet. Did he suffer a new injury or reaggravate the old one?

Braves release Jordan Weems. He’s 32. Time may have run out for his baseball career.
