Three Worcester pitchers combined to no-hit and shut out Rochester, 8-0. Andrew Alvarez took the loss, giving up seven runs on six hits (one HR) and four walks. He struck out two. A dishonorable mention to Joan Adon, who served up a grand slam to the second batter he faced to let in all three inherited runners. Three Red Wings reached base – Franchy Cordero on an error and walks to Brady House and Robert Hassell.

In the “aftercap” the Red Sox scored three in the 7th and one in the 8th to turn a would-be 2-0 shutout into a 4-3 win to sweep the doubleheader. Spot starter Konnor Pilkington struck out seven of ten batters faced. Patrick Weigel gave up three in his two innings for the blown save to put the Red Wings in a 3-2 hole. Jackson Cluff led off the bottom of the 7th with a triple and watched the next two batters fail to hit it out of the IF before Brady House plated him with an RBI single to force extras. Alas, Clay Helvey let in the free runner in the top of the 8th and Rochester could not match them. Franchy Cordero singled and doubled while Andrew Pinckney singled twice and stole a base to lead the Red Wings’ offense. Roster moves: LHP Shinnosuke Ogasawara placed on 7-Day I.L.; RHP Tyler Schoff reassigned from Harrisburg.

Jarlin Susana tied his career-high with 10 strikeouts while the Senators busted out for 12 hits in a 11-4 win over the Fisher Cats. Susana fell one out shy of qualifying for the win, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks. Michael Cuevas vultured the “W” by getting the last out of the 5th and giving up the final two New Hampshire runs on four hits in the 6th. Cayden Wallace was the beer man for the Harrisburg offense, which was led by Donta’ Williams with a single, double, and a homer while driving in three, scoring twice, and drawing a walk.

Elijah Green homered in the 2nd but the Wilmington pitchers could not throw the shutout necessary to make that stand up in a 5-1 loss to Hudson Valley. Riley Cornelio got knocked from the box with two out in the fourth after one run allowed on two hits, three walks, and a Robles. He struck out six. Wander Arias stranded one while getting out of the 4th but was lit up for four runs on four hits over the next two innings to take the loss. Gavin Dugas was the sole Blue Rock batter to reach base twice (single, walk) while Brandon Pimentel doubled to round out Wilmington’s three-hit fusillade.

The FredNats got six shutout innings from the ‘pen, setting up a late-inning comeback from a 3-2 deficit to win, 4-3. Alex Meckley was sent packing after three runs in three innings, with seven hits and two walks allowed. Gavin Bruni, Adam Bloebaum, and Merrick Baldo each put up two goose eggs, combining for eight strikeouts (four by Bloebaum) and four walks (three by Baldo). Fredericksburg got the equalizer in the 8th when Randal Diaz was hit by a pitch, stole second, and scored on Yoander Rivero’s two-out single. In the 9th, the FredNats capitalized on a two-out error on Roismar Quintana’s second safety. Nick “Power to the Peoples” pinch-ran and scored on Jorgelys Mota’s subsequent single. In the bottom half of the final frame, Baldo survived three singles in the space of four batters, as a cannon throw home by Christhian Vaquero and poor baserunning erased a runner at second base. After a walk to load the bases, Baldo caught the last batter looking for the game-ending whiff.
