Nats Drop Third Straight, 7-0
The Nats did their best imitation of the ’24 Blue Rocks as they were shut out by the Mets, 5-0 on five hits on Friday afternoon.
One of those hits was a single by James Wood, who also walked aand finished 1-for-2 as the first DH for Washington. The other four singles were collected by José Tena, Keibert Ruiz, Andrew Pinckney, and Brady House.
Shinnosuke Ogasawara was manhandled for four runs (two earned) on four hits (one HR) and a walk over an inning and 2/3rds. He threw 42 pitches, 25 for strikes. He was followed by Rule 5 pick Evan Reifert got the last out of the 2nd and gave up a run on three hits in the 3rd.
With a road game, Pinckney (LF) and Robert Hassell (CF) both started with Hassell drawing the only other walk (see reference to Wilmington above). Cayden Wallace (2B), Daylen Lile (RF), Darren Baker (LF), and House (3B) appeared in the game as subs.
The Nats head north up to Jupiter to play the Cards this afternoon. Michael Soroka is expected to make his first ST start. The game can be heard online with the St. Louis radio team.
