Andrew Alvarez Born: 6/13/99 Ht. 6’3″ Wt. 215 Bats: L Throws: L Career Stats |
Alvarez split time between Harrisburg, where he was very good (2.89/3.55/1.15) for ten starts, and Rochester, where he made 16 starts and wasn’t very good (3.90/4.39/1.45). Absent a Parker-Herz kind of breakthrough (or an injury), this is his final watchlist appearance. BA ranked him #30 in 2024 pointing to a subpar velocity as his weakness.
Dustin Saenz Born: 6/2/99 Ht. 5’11” Wt. 197 Bats: L Throws: L Career Stats |
Saenz spent half season on the I.L. with an undisclosed injury, which, combined with his Rule 5 status, “earned” him a spot in the Arizona Fall League. Like Alvarez, he’s generally unheard of outside of our little bubble, which deep down, we all know he’s watchlisted largely because the Nats are so desperately short on lefthanded pitching.
Alex Clemmey Born: 7/18/05 Ht. 6’6″ Wt. 205 Bats: L Throws: L Career Stats |
Like Travis Sykora, Clemmey was drafted in 2023 but did not pitch until 2024, though as a Rhode Island native he was ready to go the first week of April. He features a FB/CV/CH arsenal with a mid-90s heat. Unlike Sykora, his command is spotty, which led to a walk rate of 6.1 BB/9IP. He’ll likely repeat the level as (A) he doesn’t turn 20 until more halfway through the season (B) he will need more time to develop his changeup.
Adam Bloebaum Born: 5/03/01 Ht. 6’6″ Wt. 225 Bats: L Throws: L Career Stats |
Bloebaum went undrafted in 2023 and pitched in the Pioneer League with subpar results. The Nats signed him in May 2024 and he split time between the FCL and Low-A, making 16 appearances in the former and four in the latter with a combined line of 2.16/2.67/1.20 over 25 innings. He started in college, so there’s always the chance that the Nats may try him there in hopes he could perhaps develop into a middle reliever.
Angel Roman Born: 9/24/03 Ht. 5’11” Wt. 162 Bats: L Throws: L Career Stats |
A former DSL guy, Roman made 16 appearances in the FCL – 15 as a reliever – with a line of 2.16/2.67/1.17. He was brought up to Low-A after the FCL season was done and made seven more appearances, including two starts. Given his age, he’s very likely to return to Fredericksburg for ’25. |
