Potomac Roster Shuffle
In addition to the assignment of catcher Brian Peacock to Harrisburg (corresponding move TBA), the Potomac Nationals announced three more moves today…
• LHP Sammy Solis placed on 7-Day DL
• RHP Trevor Holder received from GCL, activated from 7-Day DL
• C Andruth Ramirez received from GCL
We don’t have any news regarding the reason Solis’s stay on the DL. With a “TBA” for tomorrow, it’s quite likely that Mr. Holder will be the starter tomorrow night, having last thrown on Wednesday for an inning in the GCL. Ramirez is most likely on call until Peacock returns or if a longer-term solution is needed (bear in mind how close Myrtle Beach and Viera are in terms of geography, Hagerstown is leaving for a roadtrip tomorrow night, and Potomac is returning home on Monday).
UPDATE #1: Devin Ivany has indeed been placed on the DL, which means Peacock’s stay will be longer than day-to-day. Evan Bronson has been listed as tomorrow night’s starter for Potomac.
Hopefuly Solis isnt hurt to bad, we have already had 3 shoulder guys( Kimball, Carr, Ramirez )and 1 TJ guy(Cla Meridith)
Thanks for pointing out the geography, otherwise I’d be scraching my head big time.
Any idea if Boomer Whiting is still playing somewhere?
Last time I checked, no
Surprised he has caught on in the independent league
No, not really. The roster rules in most indy leagues would make Boomer a veteran and teams don’t spend that slot (typically, they’re allowed four) on small-ball speedsters; generally they use the veteran slots for one or two starting pitchers, a catcher, and a 1B/DH type.
I read an article in the Post stating that Arnesen hit 97 mph in the All Star Game. Do you think this is accurate? I know his splitter has been making batters look like fools, but I didn’t think his fastball was reved up that high. Any advise would be appreciated.
If he can throw 97 hes not just an OG
AFL for him?
On a stadium radar gun, which generally run “hot.” Starters when working as a reliever can generally amp it up a few miles an hour, so it’s possible that he may have hit 92 on a legit gun. When I saw him regularly, he was in the high 80s. Arnesen is 27, a stand-up guy, but I think the deck is stacked against him in this organization.
