A five-run 6th broke up the Star Trek convention on the Pfitzner South Diamond scoreboard. The Senators avoided shutout #11 but not their sixth straight loss as they fell, 5-2. Chase Solesky grounded the Flying Squirrels for four and 2/3rds innings, allowing four hits and a walk while striking out three. Ty Tice stranded two to get out of the 5th but was lit up for all five Richmond on three hits, a walk, and a Robles while getting just one out in the 6th. Daylen Lile and Onix Vega both reached base twice while Harrisburg totaled five hits and four walks on offense.

Brooklyn busted out out for three in the 9th to turn a one-run lead into the eventual 5-1 win over Wilmington. José Atencio went seven full innings for the second time this season but took the loss, his seventh at High-A. He allowed two unearned runs on four hits and two walks while setting down seven on strikes. Jared McKenzie singled twice and scored the lone Blue Rocks run while Joe Naranjo (single, walk) and Elijah Nunez (2BB) both reached base to power the Wilmington offense.

Samuel Vasquez walked one and fanned two while working around a walk and a steal. Anthony Arguelles gave up the fourth hit but came away with his fourth save. Austin Amaral, Matt Bollenbacher, and Merrick Baldo each put up a goose egg to earn the win, hold, and save, respectively. The win was awarded to Christian Ciuffetelli despite putting on three runners in his single inning worked. Andy Acevedo reached base four times on a walk and three singles while Enmanuel Ramirez singled three times and scored three times to lead the F-Nats attack.
DSL Nationals 9 DSL Blue Jays 2 (6 inn.)

• Requena 2-3, R,
• Tejeda 1-2, 2R, BB, HBP, SB
• Hurtado 1-3, R, HR(GS), 4RBI
Rain presumably shortened this one to six innings as the D-Nats spun the D-Jays, 9-2. Franniel Reynoso walked four and let in one run on one hit in his three and 2/3rd innings pitched. He struck out two. Darrel Lunar got out of the 4th while giving up a walk, then worked around a single in the 5th, which was good enough to get the win. The killshot for the DSL Nationals came in the 4th with a grand slam off the bat of Victor Hurtado. As noted in the comments, Dashyll Tejeda emerged from witness protection to single, walk, steal a base (#23) and score twice as the DSL Nationals took advantage of errors (4) and hit batsman to score nine times on six hits.
Hmmm Watkins 7-3 as the “ Professor “ on the Gilliagans Island Red Wings staff. Not a bad investment for summer 2024
A louder hmmmm on Atencio vs Brooklyn who always seems to be an annoying opponent to Nats affiliate
We will take a walk and two singles for maturing CV
Todd , could Marc Davis use another pitch in his arsenal to help him get to 6-7 QS IP??
Fitting if Rizzo got over the disappointment in Cole Henry perhaps not fulfilling
His destiny as a starting pitcher with drafting LSU commitment Cam Caminiti
A lefty
We sure need left handed starters in the pipeline .
Feliz not Diaz @ dSL
And I thought about typing today will be Lirianos day after Hurtago yesterday .
Feliz .315 BA nice
This comment echoes what many fans are thinking :
Delino sure wishes Hassell 3 and Yoyo were healthy and active .
Way to go White ( 6 th ) tater
Luke Young needs a QS to get his momentum going
Sens lineup last night had SIX batters hitting under .200.
Phillip Glasser and the now-healthy Jared McKenzie would seem like the most likely reinforcements who could be sent to City Island. We haven’t talked much about Glasser, but he could be on the verge of having a three-level summer in his first year of pro ball. The organization doesn’t seem to have a lot of confidence in him at SS, though, as he’s been spending more of his time at 3B and in LF. To keep advancing at a corner position, he’ll have to show more power eventually.
We won’t mention JRs ERA @ 666
Maybe he’s due for a QS with pin point control ?
Interesting how there is no chatter about prospects Nats considering in the impending amateur draft outside of round one .
Usually we hear whispers in the wind about some kid in the third or fourth round range consideration.
Let’s see if Hurtago causes us to do a happy dance today .
Cool that Diaz has 8 doubles in the same upper lineup @ DSL.
Impressive academic resume paralleling James Tibbs 3 on diamond resume . Does he seem like a Travis Blakenhorn type or better ????
Kiley McDaniel has a new mock out today and has the Nats taking a player I haven’t seen them linked with previously:
10. Washington Nationals
James Tibbs III, RF, Florida State
I still don’t know if the Nats’ board looks like past Nats’ draft boards, given the new execs involved. Rainer seems like the player they’re angling for (that would fit the historical tendencies of high-upside players) with Tibbs and Montgomery (who do not) as other likely options and Caminiti also being considered (definitely fits).
Caminiti??????? From same family tree as Ken the Astro ??
Yep! Not Ken’s son, though. Believe they’re cousins. Also pretty sure Cam is a pitcher.
Tibbs3
Hassell 3
lol
Callis put out a mock last night and has us taking Rainer.
Did anyone see Baseball America’s one this morning?
How about a mock or podcast from Joe Doyle of Future Stars Series? He has been great lately at getting the Nats picks. I would love to onow what he thinks.
Rainer would fit what Haas liked to do with AZ. College bats would fit Ciolek/O’s.
Caminiti was mentioned by someone before as a possibility. He does not fit the pitcher type they normally like, but he has hit 98 (some say 99) and does not turn 18 until August. Secondaries are pretty advanced. Also can appatently really hit and play 3b, so he has a safety net if pitching fails.
I don’t think Rainer beer is brewed out in Seattle anymore
