The Red Wings scored four tims in its first five “ups,” capped by a five-run 5th to take 10-4 lead. They added another run in the 7th to go up by seven, which Richard Gsellman tried to ruin (4R ⅔ IP) but was bailed out by veterans Tim Cate and Rico Garcia for the hold and save, respectively. Brady Lindsly and Darren Baker both drove in three runs while Jack Dunn walked, doubled, and homered to power the Rochester offense. Thad Ward got the Jack Morris win with fours runs allowed on seven hits and four walks over five innings. He struck out seven.

Make that six straight quality-start wins for Brad Lord, as the Nats’ 2022 18th Rd. pick combined with three relievers to shut out Binghampton, 6-0. Lord struck out six, walked two, and allowed three hits. Harrisburg’s hitters marched to an 11-hit parade, led by J.T. Arruda with a single and two doubles, followed by C.J. Stubbs with a single and a homer, and 2-for-4 nights by Robert Hassell, Dylan Crews, and Andrew Picnkney.

Jeremy De La Rosa cleared the bases in the 1st with a three-run double then smacked a two-run HR in the 6th as the Blue Rocks stalled the Hot Rods, 9-4. The offensive outburst covered for another subpar outing by Riley Cornelio, who let in all four Bowling Green runs on five hits (2HR) and two walks over five innings. He struck out eight, a career best. DAylen Lile led the Wilmington hit column with three singles and a double, followed by Viandel Peña with three safeties in five trips to the plate.

Fredericksburg was shut out, 3-0 on four hits to fall for the third time in five games with Down East. Marc Davis went the first four innings, giving up a run on three hits and two walks while striking out five. That was enough to lose for the second time this season. Armando Cruz had three singles, Marcus Brown had one, while Brenner Cox drew the lone walk as the FredNats went 0-for-5 with RISP and struck out 12 times.

The F-Nats were less inept than the F-Mets, walking off in the 8th on a wild pitch to hit the .500 mark for the first time this season. Brayan Romero started and went two innings, giving up a run on a hit and two walks. Anthony Arguelles let in an inherited runner for the blown save while Doimil Perez was credited with the win for pitching a scoreless inning in the top of the 8th. Elijah Nunez doubled and notched the only RBI while Sammy Infante drew two walks to lead the FCL Nats’ four-hit, three-walk fusillade.
Looking at Brad Lord’s stats, he basically hasn’t been any good anywhere until this year. Look at his college stats. Lousy ERA, lousy WHIP and he lost twice as much as he won. Not much of a minor league career until this year. I looked for scouting reports on his stuff, but couldn’t find. What’s he got all of a sudden? He is at AA ball, and Brad is still at prospect age of 24, so his progress this year could mean something.

Coffee not kickin in
his stuff doesn’t look different from what he threw last year but he is getting more fly balls vs ground balls this year. he’s also getting more strikeouts so maybe he’s finding success by pitching up in the zone more frequently. he has always had good command and sure seems to trust his stuff.
if Rizzo calls me later today I’ll tell him to dump Gsellman, move Ward to relief and make a spot for Lord in upstate NY.

Rochester’s OF, now with Wood out of the picture, is pretty lousy. It wouldn’t be hard to make space by moving one of the Harrisburg OFers OPSing around .800 to AAA.
Would be very cool if a double promotion went to AAA as Lile and JDL went to City Isle

After his 2nd straight shutout performance Brad Lord’s ERA is a great 1.48! My word, the light bulb has certainly gone on and we have another star pitching prospect. From an 18th rounder no less.
Millas called up to replace Riley, I hope he sticks this time
Wow. Didn’t think that would ever come. Hope he seizes the moment! I think Ruiz still has higher potential, but I’d bet that Millas finishes the season with a higher WAR than Ruiz, if Millas can stick in the majors.
*and Davey will give him semi-regular playing time.
Millas can stick and will be one of the better backup catchers. Decent possible starter who runs well and help the pitching staff and cutting down base stealers!
This might be permanent as Martinez says Riley Adams will be playing a lot of 1st base.
