Three straight two-out hits led to all three Toledo runs in the bottom of the 8th. Rochester got the tying run into scoring position with an error and a stolen base by Cody Wilson, but neither Richie Martin nor Derek Hill could deliver a second hit as the Mud Hens clipped the Red Wings, 3-2. Cory “Don’t Call Me Roger” Abbott blanked Toledo for five innings but five walks and six whiffs bumped his pitch count to 96. Hill homered in the 4th to give Rochester its first run while Darren Baker plated Martin, who had walked and stole second, in the 7th. Hobie Harris registered the blown-save-loss with the aforementioned three runs on three hits and two walks (one intentional).

After 4½ innings, the Senators led 6-0. After 7½, it was 9-4. With two out in the 9th, it was still 9-7. But a three-run HR by journeyman Max McDowell off Reid Schaller (pictured) made it 10-9 and walked Harrisburg off the field, ending a five-game win streak. Jackson Rutledge got the start and dominated for five innings before hitting a wall in the 6th, as he gave up four runs on four hits, including a two-out, two-run HR. Jackson Cluff continued his torrid May (13-for-30, .433) with two singles and two doubles while Frankie Tostado extended his hit streak to five with two singles and his 6th HR to power the Senators offense. Roster moves: LHP Lucas Knowles promoted from Wilmington; RHP Orlando Ribalta placed on the 7-Day I.L.; LHP Juan Hillman released.

Cole Henry hit his first bump in the road on his rehab tour, giving up a solo HR and three hits total over four innings while walking two and striking out three four. Rodney Theophile was the first man out of the ‘pen and was knocked for three runs on five hits, two Victor Robles, and a walk over two-plus innings. Jacob Young led the hit column with two singles and scored the first Blue Rocks run, then drove in the second run in the person of Caleb Farmer, who was the only other Wilmington batter to reach base twice.

Bryan Sanchez got the start but was lifted with one out in the 5th after walking four, hitting two, and allowing two singles. He struck out one. Mason Denaburg was the pitcher of record when Fredericksburg took the lead for good and was credited with the win despite letting in an inherited runner and one of his own, walking two, and throwing three wild pitches over an inning and 2/3rds. Murphy Stehly led the FredNats hit column with three singles and double and drove in three while Elijah Green also reached base four times with two singles and two walks.
Theophile and Adon seem like carbon copies .
I’ll give credit to Cole Henry again who was facing Hudson Valley a tough Yankee affiliate squad
Lucas Knowles a feel good story this summer . San Juan Hill MAN , we never had a chance for Luke to use that nickname on you ! Good luck , laddie !
Interesting to see which DSL22 kids reach the 23 Complex roster .
Christian V , Mojica and the SS for sure .
Some of those young arms ?
I asked several of the Maryland players if they saw any scouts especially Nats scouts hanging out in Omaha
Yeah – if one run in 4IP (2.25 ERA) is a “bump in the road” I’ll take that every day and twice on Sunday. Especially as it comes as he’s continuing to move up the affiliate ladder.
Lucas Knowles was a 14th round pick in 2019, signing for the odd amount of $142,000. He was the last signed that year and they gave him every last dollar they could without being penalized.
And he survived the dead year of 2020. Three cheers!
