Scranton/Wilkes-Barre put up crooked numbers in the 1st, 4th, and 5th to down Rochester 6-1 in the opener. Wily Peralta got knocked from the box in the 4th after letting four runs on six hits and two walks while hitting a batter. He struck out four while losing for the second time in five starts. Matt Adams homered to break up the shutout in the 4th as the Red Wings managed eight hits in seven “ups” but none in seven RISP chances. Darren Baker and Richie Martin both singled twice with Baker drawing the only Rochester walk and Martin stealing the only base for the Red Wings.

The Red Wings dropped six in the top of the 1st and held off the RailRiders for a 9-6 win. Tommy Romero plodded through three and gave up a three-run homer and four hits total. He walked one and struck out three. The “W” went to José Mujica, who retired five of nine batters faced in the middie innings. Nomar Mazara led Rochester’s 15-hit parade with four singles, followed by Derek Hill with three safeties, while Wilson Garcia and Darren Baker each went 2-for-4. Roster moves: LHP Anthony Banda outrighted from Washington.

A one-out balk followed by an RBI single by Carter Kieboom gave Harrisburg a 2-0 lead in the 3rd, which the Senators held for a 2-1 win over the Fisher Cats. Mitchell Parker picked up his first AA win with a quality start. He allowed the lone New Hampshire run on two hits and a walk while striking out four. Amos Willingham worked around an error in the 7th to get the save, his third of the season. Jack Dunn singled twice, walked once, and stole his 5th base to lead the Harrisburg offense.

Much like the second game in Moosic, PA, the second game in Manchester, NH was over early as the Fisher Cats sent 12 men to the plate in the 1st and eight came around to score. New Hamphire split the twinbill with a 13-2 win in the nightcap. Garvin Alston retired two of nine batters face to take the loss. Harrisburg had seven hits total on the night. Jack Dunn led the way with a solo HR in the 1st and singles in the 3rd and 6th. Frankie Tostado plated the second Harrisburg run with an RBI single in the 3rd. Roster moves: IF Carter Kieboom assigned from Washington for MLB Rehab.

The good news is that Andry Lara leads the team in HRs with four. The bad news is that’s allowed, not hit, as the 20-y.o. was lit up for the longball twice in a 6-2 Wilmngton loss to Hudson Valley. Lara gave up six runs on seven hits and a walk over two and 2/3rds to lose for the third time. Like Brad Pitt at a singles bar, he did get a strikeout. Nick Shumpert homered in the 3rd and drove in the second Blue Rocks run with a single in the 8th. That was the one hit in 11 RISP opportunities as Wilmington drew nine walks and none of them scored. They left 15 men on base.

Down East 0 Fredericksburg 0 – SUSP.
The Wood Ducks got the first three batters to reach base. Alas, just when it looked like Down East was about to score, there was an equipment failure at second base. No, it wasn’t a bra that unhooks in the front, but it did take nearly an hour before they gave up trying… to get the base reattached. They’ll shoot to finish the second game this afternoon at 4:35 p.m., then play a seven-inning game afterward. Roster moves: IF Sammy Infante placed on the 7-Day I.L.; C Maxwell Romero Jr. activated from the 7-Day I.L.
