Lehigh Valley homered twice in the 8th to erase a 3-1 deficit and end Rochester’s five-game winning streak with a 4-3 win. Logan Verrett’s seven innings of one-run ball went for naught as Luis Avilán coughed up a two-run HR to tie it and Juan Minaya gave up a solo shot to the very next batter to lose it. Lucius Fox was the sole Red Wing to have multiple hits while John Nogowskit drove in all three runs with a groundout in the 1st and a two-run double in the 3rd.
New Hampshire 5 Harrisburg 1
• Cate 6IP, 2H, 1R, 1ER, 0BB, 10K, HR
• Peguero (L, 2-7) ⅓ IP, 2H, 3R, 3ER, 1BB, 0K
• Teel ⅔ IP, 1H, 1R, 0ER, IBB, 2K, 2-2 IR-S
• W. Garcia 1-4, 2B
• Harris 1-4
The Fisher Cats broke a 1-1 tie with a four-run 8th inning to hand the Senators their eighth loss over the last nine games, 5-1. Tim Cate struck out ten while turning in his sixth quality start, allowing a run on a home run and two hits total, and did not walk a batter. His final start as a 24-y.o. would be a no-decision. Francys Peguero retired just one of four batters faced, giving up two hits and a walk to the others for his seventh loss. Wilson Garcia doubled while Trey Harris and Darren Baker both singled. The resort of the lineup went 0-for-20 with a walk and nine strikeouts.
in years past Logan Verrett might have gotten a callup when injuries created the opening. now with a rebuilding mentality Lee, Tetreault and Abbott got their shots.
It’s hard to believe that Harrisburg won as many games as they have with 4 starters owning OPS’s in the 500’s. Just brutal.
Looking to see how Murphy is stretched out today. He’s had 7 starts since they transitioned him and 6 have been good to very good with 4 innings his max so far.
By this time next year , Mark L, the Greek chorus will be singing the praises of the balanced roster of pitching and hitting in HRB.
