Harrisburg OFF DAY @ Hartford, 7:05 p.m. Rogers (MLB Rehab) vs. Locey (4-1, 3.47)

Fredericksburg OFF DAY @ Augusta, 7 p.m. Alvarez (4-4, 4.44) vs. Ra. Rodriguez (0-0, 2.51)
FCL Nationals Won, 8-7
(8 inn.)
vs. FCL Astros Orange, 12 p.m.
DSL Nationals Lost, 6-0 vs. DSL Mariners, 11 a.m.

Rochester Red Wings (44-40, 1GB, 2nd Place, I.L. East)
Despite winning just seven of its last 25 games, Rochester remains in the hunt for the I.L. East title. Yesterday, Cade Cavalli was named the I.L. Pitcher of the week for his seven shutout innings on Thursday. It’s his third POTW honor in his career and first this season.

Harrisburg Senators (4-8, 4GB, T5th, E.L. Southwest – 34-47 overall)
The Senators are riding a two-game surge as they head into the lovely (no, not really) city of Hartford this week for the first time since 2019 (H/T Senators PR).

Wilmington Blue Rocks (7-7, 2½ GB, T3rd, Sally Lg. North – 42-37 overall)
Wilmington continues its 12-game sojourn into North Carolina with six this week against the Hickory Crawdads. The Blue Rocks split the first of the two series between these two teams in April.

Fredericksburg Nationals (13-2, 4½ GA, 1st place, C.L. North)
Multiple sources on the Twitters are stating that Jeremy De La Rosa will be the first (age-appropriate-to-the-level) position player to be promoted this season. Dustin Saenz is also reported to be on the move to High-A, with Tim Cate making his way back to AA. Meanwhile, Brady House’s return, which had been scheduled for later this month, will likely be delayed until mid-August. House has reportedly been rehabbing a back injury in West Palm Beach, according to Joey LaMonaco of the Fredericksburg Free Lance-Star.

FCL Nationals 8 FCL Astros Orange 7 (8 inn.)
• Arano 1IP, 3H, 3R, 3ER, 0BB, 0K, HR
• Aldonis 4IP, 4H, 1R, 1ER, 0BB, 4K
• Candelario (W, 3-0) 2IP, 2H, 2R, 1ER, 0BB, 4K
• Martin 2-4, R, SAC, HR, RBI
• Cruz 2-3, R, BB, SF, RBI,
• Frizzell 2-5, 3RBI

The F-Nats pushed their winning streak to nine with an 8-7 win over the F-Astros Orange in eight innings. After Victor Arano “worked on some stuff” and got worked for a three-run HR in the 1st, the putative starter Pablo Aldonis went the next four, allowing a run on four hits and no walks. The win went to A.J. Candelario as the pitcher of record as he coughed up two runs on two hits over two innings. Will Frizzell drove in three on two singles while Rudy Martin singled and homered and Armando Cruz walked once, singled twice, and drove in a run with a sac fly.

DSL Mariners 6 DSL Nationals 0
• Moron (L, 1-3) 5IP, 4H, 4R, 4ER, 2BB, 4K, HR, HBP, 2WP
• C. Sanchez 2IP, H, R, ER, BB, K
• Rosario 1-4
• Mojica 0-0, 3BB
• 0-for-12 RISP; 10 LOB

The D-Nats walked eight times but couldn’t push across any for a run as they were shut out by the D-Mariners, 6-0, on one hit. Raynel Moron lost for the third time, giving up four runs on four hits (one HR) and two walks over five innings. He struck out four and hit a batter. Helder Rosario broke up the no-hitter with a single in the 7th.

Granted we do not know the specifics of age specific , medical report file guidelines of players and their rehab programs .
    AJ Candelario @ The Complex
For example must be on a specific avatar build up the arm and conditioning program .
Let’s see how Fred fills the innings with two open chairs now on their staff.

Hmmm another Nats possible claim ? Lol

Very good to see Armando Cruz hitting significantly better this summer, and with some pop. He shown more pop thus far this season than Quintana has. Cruz still needs to learn to take a walk, but there’s encouraging development at age 18.

Glad to see some rumors of long-overdue promotions.

About damn time on De La Rosa.
Congratulations to Dustin Saenz, well deserved for last year’s 4th round pick.

Thanks SD, I’m sure the Nats were the very last team to promote position players this year.

who is Jesse Dougherty and why would Jake get promoted? Did someone get hurt in Rochester?

      1. Paul Householder says:
        July 12, 2022 at 1:13 pm

I answered one question myself, but why would Jake Alu get promoted unless there is an injury somewhere higher than AA

Taking a look at major investments:

    Jackson Rutledge (DOB 4/1/1999)
    Overall: 11 starts, 44.1 IP, 6.50 ERA, 41 K, 15 BB
    May: 4 starts 11.45 ERA
    June: 5 starts 3.91 ERA
    July: 2 starts 6.97 ERA
Rutledge has gone 7.0 IP once and 6.0 IP once

    Mason Denaburg (DOB 8/8/1999)
    Overall: 8 starts, 25.2 IP, 4.21 ERA, 28 K, 13 BB)
    May: 1 start 18.00 ERA
    June: 5 starts: 4.02 ERA
    July: 2 starts: 1.13 ERA
Denaburg’s max IP in a game is 4.0 (achieved the last 3 starts)

Denaburg appears to be trending better at the moment. Rutledge is going deeper into games. Denaburg seems to have more “nasty stuff” to my eyes.
Would someone take either of these guys in Rule 5 and try them out in the bullpen?

    1. FredMD says:
      July 12, 2022 at 10:37 am

no question in my mind they’d both be claimed. I’d be surprised to see them left exposed

      1. KW says:
        July 12, 2022 at 12:05 pm

The Rockies have left Riley Pint, a 1/4 overall pick, exposed for the last two years.

The Nats are going to have a bunch of 40-man decisions before Rule 5. It’s not just Rutledge and Denaburg; it’s guys like Cronin, Irvin, Cate, and Troop who are farther up the food chain with more possibility to be taken, plus de la Rosa, Aldo Ramirez, Drew Millas, Jake Alu, Israel Pineda, Seth Shuman, and Rodney Theophile.

  7. natteringnabob says:

MilB transactions has Quintanilla to FCL Rehab, Aldonis from FCL to Fredericksburg. (Aldonis 2.62 IP, 4.39 ERA, 33 K, 5 BB, turned 20 in March)

    1. Alou2alu says:
      July 12, 2022 at 10:44 am

Bingo Aldonis answers the Jeopardy for 100 “ next up from the complex “ question
Next question : how is Alu replaced in Sens lineup ?

  8. natteringnabob says:
    July 12, 2022 at 11:01 am

Also going to Fredericksburg from FCL per MiLB.com
    Miguel Gomez, 7 games, 0 starts, 11.2 IP ERA 0.00 14 K 2B (turns 21 in Sept.)
Christopher De La Cruz, CF, 80 AB, OPS 745

    1. Alou2alu says:
      July 12, 2022 at 11:34 am

Play some Pablo Cruise traveling music for Christopher
      Lopez a swing guy?

Fangraphs pre-draft ranking of farm systems:

    https://www.fangraphs.com/prospects/the-board/2022-in-season-prospect-list/farm-ranking?sort=-1,1&type=100&filter=&pos=&team=

Nats are 23d, which seems generous. Much of the value is from Cavalli, Henry, and House.
