DSL Nationals | Won, 4-3 | OFF DAY |
Rochester 4 Lehigh Valley 0
• Cavalli (W, 4-3) 7IP, 2H, 0R, 0BB, 7K
• Harvey 1IP, 2H, 0R, 0BB, 1K
• Meneses 4-4, BB, RBI, SB
• Noll 2-4, R, 2B, HR, 3RBI
Three Red Wings pitchers combined to shut out the IronPigs, 5-0, on five hits. Cade Cavalli didn’t walk a batter for the first time this season while going seven frames for the third time as he picked up his fourth win. Hunter Harvey and Alberto Baldonado both added a goose egg. Jake Noll doubled in one and homered for two more while Joey Meneses drove in the other Rochester run on his fourth single to pace the Red Wings’ offense.
Roster moves: RHP Hunter Harvery reassigned from the FCL for MLB Rehab.
Erie 7 Harrisburg 0
• J. Rogers (L, 0-1) 4IP, 8H, 6R, 6ER, 1BB, 2K, 3HR
• Fuentes 3IP, 3H, 1R, 1ER, 2BB, 0K
• Alu 2-4, 2-2B
• Dunn 1-3
A change of level didn’t matter as Erie plundered Josh Rogers in a 7-0 shutout of Harrisburg. Rogers coughed up three HRs…Forrest Gump pause…again, accounting for five of the six runs he allowed on eight hits and a walk over four innings. Of course, it was a moot point as the Senators mustered just three hits – a pair of doubles by Jake Alu, and a single by Jack Dunn – and did not draw a walk.
Roster moves: LHP Josh Rogers reassigned from Rochester for MLB Rehab; RHP Malvin Peña promoted from Wilmington.
Wilmington 7 Winston-Salem 5 (10 inn.)
• Cate 4IP, 3H, 3R, 3ER, 2BB, 1K, HR
• Ferrer (W, 2-0) 2IP, 1H, 0R, 2BB, 3K
• Sinclair (SV, 2) 1IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 3K
• Pineda 3-5, BB, 2B, RBI
• Strohschein 3-5
• Méndez 3-6
The Blue Rocks blew leads of 4-0 and 5-3 to get taken to extras where the Dash gave it away in the 10th, 7-5. Tim Cate gave up a three-run HR and three hits total over four innings. He walked two and struck out one in the no-decision. Jose Ferrer tossed two scoreless in the 8th and 9th for the win while Jack Sinclair struck out the side in the 10th for the save. Winston-Salem turned a would-be sacrifice by Ricardo Méndez into a Little League double to score the free runner and push the runner from first to third with ease, though Méndez gave it back by getting thrown out between second and third. Israel Pineda doubled in the second run with his third hit for the final Blue Rocks run.
Roster moves: RHP Richard Gausch demoted from Harrisburg.
Lynchburg 5 Fredericksburg 1
• Caceres (L, 4-4) 3⅔ IP, 5H, 4R, 1ER, 2BB, 2K, 2HBP, E(2)
• B. Peña 2⅓ IP, 1H, 0R, 1BB, 5K, 2-0 IR-S
• Williams 2-3, R, HR, BB, RBI
• De La Rosa 1-4
Fredericksburg’s eight-game winning streak came to an end with a 5-1 loss to Lynchburg. Bryan Caceres failed to go four innings for the first time in 13 starts, as he lost for the fourth time. He was dinged for four runs (one earned) on five hits and two walks, hit two batters, and struck out two. Steven Williams reached base three times with a single, homer, and a walk while Jeremy La Rosa collected the third hit for the FredNats. The rest of the lineup went 0-for-22 with four walks.
FCL Nationals – OFF DAY
Shhhh. Don’t tell anyone. The F-Nats are in first place by percentage points as they host the second-place F-Mets today.

The D-Nats returned to .500 (11-11) with the win.
Little league double
Lol! Good Luke
3 innings tonight for Densburg
Little League , Luke
they’ve kept him under 60 pitches all year, on the last two occasions he was able to get through four. (bonus) baby steps
Nice pitch efficiency for Irwin pitching to his alumni brother Lindsay
6 IP 79 pitches 5 Ks
3 ER
Nice Jake !
We will take those outings from most prospects
Saves bullpen wear and tear
Josh Rogers was hit hard. The highlight of the night occurred after he gave up a two run homer. The batter passed the runner going around first base and none of the umpires saw it, but the Senators did. Arguments ensued and the Senators manager and hitting coach were ejected.
We’re truly in an odd moon period , Senators
We can speak promotions into existence
Gang write up your envisioned bolstered affiliates with promotions :
Harrisburg for example
Dunn , Rhinesmith , Martin , Connell , Omar M, Garcia , Cluff , Baker , Nogowski , the catchers … does anybody else warrent a bump up ? The audience here sighs and says no ….Tuna won’t be on the City Isle menu anytime soon ….
Have fun , gang ….
Watson smiling about Pineda’s bat lately
Wilmington wheeks rolling last night
Keep it up , Mendez .
This is Melvin Pena 9th year in the Nats org. and he is only 25. A well deserved promotion.
On recent promotions, Jack Sinclair has regained his sea legs and Jose Ferrer had another good outing, albeit with some traffic.
Cade Cavalli is close.
Cavalli pitched like a major leaguer last night. I only watched the first three, for which he was perfect. some BABIP good fortune to be so but all his pitches were sharp and thrown for strikes. guys must like pitching to Riley Adams. last box to check is consistency.
Cate battled through the first three but you felt like it was only a matter of time before somebody hit one out. didn’t seem as sharp as some past performances but I still would prefer to see him in AA.
Sinclair’s pitches were moving all over the place, he was sharp, Ferrer was not.
they juggled the lineup putting Altuna in the leadoff spot. he was on base three times with a hit and two walks but I can’t see that as his role.
Agree that Cate needs to move to AA. If Bell is traded, I wonder if Menesses gets promoted. It’s a developmental year for the Nats, so they might give him a shot. Adon gets the start today, but Cavalli is almost ready and we should see when Adon fails again.
on one hand you have to give the Nats credit for trying to win, on the other yanking Adon up and down does not seem to be in his best interest for success. then again, maybe they’ve concluded his mature enough to handle it.
Ty Fred MD
Kudos to you putting $5-6 gas in the tank and heading to the park.
Wilmington would look fun with DeLaRosa lining up with Mendez , Strohs ,
Tuna
Peña would replace Baker bumped up to HRB.
Even with the draft class weeks away from being processed there are a few guys who could fill spots @ Fred bumped up from the Complex .
The glacier truly has to melt . Lol
