After chipping away from an early 3-0 lead to take a 4-3 of its own, Rochester gave up two in the 8th for a 5-4 loss to Syracuse. Sterling Sharp gave up the first three runs on three hits (one HR) and three walks over six innings for a no-decision quality start. He struck out five. The blown-save-loss went to Alberto Baldonado, who let in the last two on three hits and a walk. Andrew Stevenson tripled, singled, and drove in two while Ildemaro Vargas singled, doubled, and drove in one to lead the Red Wings’ attack.

Gilbert Lara’s two-out grand slam in the top of the 9th capped off a seven-run rally as the Senators sank the RubberDucks, 7-3. Franklyn Kilome also turned in a no-decision quality start, allowing all three Akron runs on four hits (one HR) and three walks while fanning seven. Reid Schaller picked up the win with two scoreless innings of relief while Zach Brzykcy worked around two walks in the 9th to close it out. Justin Connell and Wilmer Perez each had a single to round out the Harrisburg hit column of three. Three of six walks came around to score along with two hit batsmen.

Wilmington hit ’em hard, early, and late as they strafed the Ironbirds for 11 hits in an 11-1 win. Seth Shuman shut out Aberdeen for six innings on five hits and two walks to register his first winning quality start out of three this season. Israel Pineda smacked a grand slam in the 1st and an RBI single in the 9th as he fell a double shy of the cycle while going 3-for-5 with 5RBI. Jordy Barley also reached base three times with two singles and a walk while Drew Mendoza hit his 10th double to pace the Blue Rocks offense.

The FredNats tied it at 3-3 with a little help from Salem but were good guests as they returned the favor with a five-run bottom of the 8th, lowlighted by a grand slam to put this one away, 8-3. Mason Denaburg pitched four innings for the first time in 2022 but also gave up three on six hits (one HR) while striking out one. He did not issue a walk for the second straight start. The loss went to Tyler Schoff with five hits and a walk in the 8th. Jacob Young and Jeremy De La Rosa combined for three hits, two runs, a walk (JDLR), two RBI, and a stolen base (ibid.) as Fredericksburg was limited to five hits and three walks total for the night.

The F-Nats were shut out, 6-0, on three hits. The loss went to a rehabbing Josh Rogers, who went the first three and let in four runs on five hits (one HR). He walked none and struck out four. The starter he bumped, Adrian Ogando, pitched four and 2/3rds scoreless, with two hits, three walks, one whiff, and three Robles. Isan Castillo, Angel Geraldo, and Wilfrido Matos each had a single. The F-Nats drew no walks and committed six errors – two apiece by Rogers and Ray Torres.

The two teams combined to go 2-for-21 with RISP and 13 LOB in a 3-2 win by the D-Giants Orange over the D-Nats. Marcos Fortunato allowed all three DGO runs on six hits and a walk over four and 2/3rds innings to wear the “L.” Crithian Vaquero singled three times and stole a base while Jenier Fernandez reached base three times with a walk and two singles. The rest of the lineup went 1-for-21 with a walk.
