What Cole Henry and Brady House share is their last game was June 11 and now they are put on the IL. Go figure.
Not sure why Tim Cate was demoted to High A in the first place but he showed yesterday he needs stiffer competition.
Interesting to note that Cate out-dueled Matt Harvey (I guess his suspension is over now?)
Agreed, Cate has nothing left to prove. He was already pitching really well in A+ three years ago. Why he’s still there doesn’t make sense to me. I’d expect a more aggressive development path for a 3rd round, relatively polished college arm.
Would Dr Watson double barrel promote Parker and Cate ??
Just asking out loud
Alou’s (is that you, Jeff?) comment yesterday got me thinking, has any batter in the farm system been promoted this year? I can’t think of any, and I don’t mean the likes of Taylor Gushue, who was shuttled around from AA to AAA for catching depth reasons.
That seems extraordinary to me to be nearly three months into the season that there’s been no movement yet, especially contrasted with the relatively active movement of our pitchers.
Yes it’s Jeff. Why the f.o. promotes pitchers but refuses to promotes position players is a dumb mystery.
Yes Will patience is a virtue must be wallpaper on Watson and Rizzos laptops .
Good Will hunting …
Good to see Tejada playing on the complex and getting hits to fall .
Draft on the 7th and 8 th .
Quite possible draft and signees could be on the plan .. farm .. tation by July 30?
How’s our guy doing ? Keven Panada?
Here is a thought about DSL schooling of young pups especially the bonus babies
The DOMREP environment more conducive to the gradual transition from amateur mindset to the “ Zen way “ of each org . Sound right ?
Don’t tempt the young kids with the wiles of Florida so quick off the field ?
Let them get strong on local cooling versus Crack – er Barrel and Taco Bell .
Our guy T. J. White continues to rock June: .328/.414/.639, with 20 hits, 4 homers, and 9 walks. Still a relatively high 16 Ks, but better than his season average. He doesn’t turn 19 until a month from now, so he’s doing this in full-season ball in his age-18 season.
It will be interesting to see if the so-called gurus start to consider him a real “prospect.” Regardless of that “status,” he looks like the real deal. I never understood why he was a 5th round guy anyway. Just glad we’re the ones who finally seem to have gotten a steal.
I’ll be less concerned with his Ks as long as he continues to walk 10-12% of the time. he looks like a real prospect to me
Let’s hope he evolves into Milton Bradley minus the head case profile
Just a quick reminder that “I can’t think of a good reason for [x]” (x = something that you feel the organization should or shouldn’t be doing) doesn’t automatically mean that there isn’t a good reason for what they’re doing/not doing.
Looking at the pitching matchups at the top – Abbott pitched last night. JRod is starting pitcher according to Rochester website.
Other than Jeremy DeLaRosa, what should I be happy about right now?
Nattering, how about Mitchell Parker and his 1.96 ERA. Thats 2 years in a row the 5th round pick has been a home run.
Cole Henry and his brilliant but very fragile arm is sad. The ray of hope I can offer is I’m old enough to remember all trouble Nolan Ryan had his first couple of years staying on the mound.
Yes, Nolan had challenges with the Mets, but from ages 21 through 24 (in MLB), he pitched in 134, 89, 131 and 151 innings before moving to the AL and stardom. In the minors before then, he had already logged many innings. The Ryan Express was amazing!!
Henry has yet to pitch much in the minors or before that, in college.
I sure hope he gets healthy, but……..
