Ben Braymer dug a 6-1 hole for Rochester with six runs let in on six hits (two HR) and three walks over five innings. He struck out two and threw two wild pitches in his Senators debut. The loss went to Frankie Bartow, who retired just one of five batters faced for his fifth loss. Jeremy De La Rosa hit his fourth homer while Joe Randa doubled with one out and Zach Cornell doubled with two out for the insurance run in the 9th.
FCL Nationals (11-15, 4th Place FCL East, 5½ GB)
For the second time in three weeks, the FCL Nats completed just two games, as two were suspended and one was postponed. They’ll complete one of the suspended games today in West Palm Beach (weather permitting), an off day on Tuesday, then (as of now) five games over four days at home with a twinbill on Friday morning.
DSL Nationals (10-9, T2nd place DSL South, 4GB)
The good news is that the D-Nats moved into a three-way tie for second place. The bad news is that they fell another game back off the pace set by the D-Rockies. It’s home and away against the D-Twins today and tomorrow, off Wednesday, then away and home against the D-Phillies Red on Thursday and Friday. Saturday is a one-off against the D-Astros at home.
Luke another song to add to the
Playlist since the trade deadline : New Kid in Town by the Eagles
Besides JoJo by Boz Scaggs .
Can anybody whose watched the Sens lately comment on the stuff of “ New kids in town “ Navas and Carillo?
In HBG, Teel threw two more scoreless innings before the disastrous 8th inning. Donovan Casey had another hit and made a great throw to nail a runner at home. I would not be surprised if he’s in Rochester this year.
Somebody has to give a birds eye Casey account .
Is he anything like Jayson Werth ?
Nothing in the PA state police log…

Who has imploded worse: Frankie Bartow or Pearson McMahan?
Bartow began the season masterfully. In his first 21 games, he threw 22.1 IP, 21K, 6B, and a mere 2.01 ERA and 0.85 WHIP. Since then, he’s pitched in 8 games, logging a 13.50 ERA, striking out 10 while walking 7, with a equally miserable 2.89 WHIP. His ERA now sits at 5.40 for the season…
Meanwhile, McMahan also started out exceptionally. In his first 16 games, he sported a 0.76 ERA, 0.83 WHIP, and 14:7 K:BB. He then got a deserved promotion to AAA, and then… broke. Since that promotion (and immediate demotion), he’s thrown in 8 games. His ERA is 8.79, WHIP: 1.67, and has walked (9) as many as he’s struck out.
Yeah, really ugly stuff there. It’s both unfortunate and difficult to understand.
A belated thanks to Will. I was on the road last week and couldn’t do this earlier but the photo of 11th round pick Marc Davis signing his contract finally solved a big mystery. MLB draft tracker even today has him not signing.
Anglin not signing is understandable and Kligman was no big deal so the results of 18 signings is a success.
Casey does not remind me of Jason Werth at all. I wonder if McMahon and Bartow are getting tired after no season in 2020.
Makes a lot of sense, LM. Could be ‘dead arms issue.
Dead arms for throwing too much, and dead arms for throwing too little! We’ve only just entered the 4th month of the season, so I’d hope they’d have kept a bit more stamina than that, but the results do suggest otherwise…
