• Stevenson 1-2, R, HR, RBI
Rochester broke open a 2-1 game with two in the 4th and three in the 5th as they won the completion, 7-3. Sean Nolin took over for Tyler Eppler and threw five innings of relief, allowing two runs on three hits and three walks while fanning seven. Jake Noll smacked two solo HRs while Ali Castillo singled and tripled to lead the Red Wings offense.
Rochester 4 Buffalo 3 – GM. 2
• Bonell 3IP, 3H, 2R, 2ER, 0BB, 1K
• Klobosits (W, 1-1) 2IP, 3H, 0R, 0BB, 2K, HBP
• Snyder 2-3, RBI
• Joseph 1-2, R, HR, BB, RBI
Corban Joseph’s solo HR in the bottom of the 6th proved to be the difference as the Red Wings took the second game, 4-3, to sweep the de facto doubleheader. Bryan Bonnell got the spot start and let in two runs over three innings. Alberto Baldonado followed but only slightly more effective – one run over two innings. The win went to Gabe Klobosits as the 26-y.o. put up two goose eggs to finish the game. Brandon Snyder led the hit column with two singles while Daniel Palka drove in two of the four runs to pace the Rochester offense. Roster moves: C Jakson Reetz added to 40-man roster, recalled to Washington; UT Adrián Sanchez activated from the 7-Day I.L.
Reading 4 Harrisburg 2 – GM. 1
• A. Lee (L, 2-4) 4⅓ IP, 5H, 4R, 4ER, BB, 3K, HR
• McMahan 1⅔ IP, 3H, 0R, 0BB, 1K, 2-2 IR-S

Harrisburg took a brief 2-1 lead in the top of the 5th but Reading answered with three to take the opener, 4-2. Andrew Lee was charged with all four Fightin runs on five hits (one HR) over four and a 1/3rd innings to lose for the second time in July, fourth overall. He walked one and struck out three. The Senators were held to six hits but pushed across two runs on RBI singles by Gilbert Lara and Aldrem Corredor.
Reading 3 Harrisburg 2 (9 inn.) – GM. 2
• Teel 5IP, 3H, 1R, 0ER, 0BB, 7K,

The Sens and Fightins played to a 1-1 tie in regulation but Reading emerged with the 3-2 win in nine innings for the doubleheader sweep. Carson Teel turned in five solid innings of one-run ball on three hits, no walks, and seven K’s. Jhon Romero was even better with two scoreless. Alas, the offense was limited to Nick Banks’s first HR of the season until extras, when Jake Alu delivered the second run on a sac fly after Gage Canning’s one-out single. Diego Moreno let in the free runner in both the 8th and 9th innings for the blown-save-loss.

• Rhinesmith 2-3
• Antuna 1-4, R, E(14)
• 0-1 RISP, 1 LOB
Alex Troop turned in his first quality start of 2021 and fanned eight but the offense was AWOL again in a 3-1 Wilmington loss to Jersey Shore. Troop also committed two of the team’s four errors while giving up three runs on six hits (one HR) and a Victor Robles. Jacob Rhinesmith singled twice. So did the rest of the lineup with just one runner getting into scoring position and scoring on an infield error. The Blue Rocks hit into three double plays and left on one (1) baserunner.

Irony that there was once the Prince William Cannons
Now there are the Cannon ballers ( no quip by Cary Grant about the days in Hollywood about Dyan Cannon ..)..
And a team nicknamed after a cable show Jersey Shore ..
No transactions for 48 hours , Luke , amazing
After a disastrous start, the pitching in Fredericksburg has really stabilized. It may take the rest of the season for some of them to have a respectable ER, but a lot of the hurlers have found their groove.
He had some traffic this time but Gabe Klobosits is still a pitching zero in AAA. He is well on his way to another ‘Hot Knife Through Butter’ award.
Carson Teel deserved a win after 5 terrific innings with ZERO walks.
Good to see Infante heating up (five hits in the last three games) in the FCL. He was a high pick plus overslot money, and he’s already 20, so it would be good if he can spend a little time in Fredericksburg this year and start moving up.
Speaking of 3d-round high school picks, congrats to Jakson Reetz for making the majors and collecting his first hit, seven years after being drafted. Good for him for preserving.
I was in Reading for the HBG DH. Teel had 7 Ks to go with 0 walks. He looked really good. Here’s how the unearned run was scored. Reading hits a single to LF, throw goes past 2B for an error, RF backing up throw throws wildly past 2B trying to get runner for another error and runner makes it all the way home. In game 1, Reading had a runner on 3B with 2 outs. Batter hits mile high pop up in front of home plate. Pitcher, catcher, 1B and 3B all stand there and watch it fall fair. Hitting and fundamentals are lacking on this team.
Defense is down everywhere in the minors — just about everyone attributes this to 2020 being spent in the batting cages and bullpens instead of live games.
Thanks LM. It makes sense what Luke says.
One has to chuckle at how winning can ease the clean up slot in Chicago to Brian Goodwin
