Maxwell more & more is coming across as a AAAA player. Crushes the ball in AAA and hits .090 in the Majors. Too bad, he’s a local guy.
He an Brian Peacock are two guys I’ll always wonder “what if he hadn’t gotten hurt…?”
I knew Moore was on a hot streak but didn’t know he was hitting that well lately. Will definitely start paying attention to him more. It seems like the hitters in our system have made some good improvements this year. Can’t say the same about our pitchers though,
Keep your eye on Brad Peacock — he’s one pitcher that’s progressed quite a bit since April.
These last two weeks it’s a lot easier to see forward movement with the position players across the board. In the past so much of the good news was predominantly from the pitchers.
Sue, please keep us posted on Moore, love his numbers lately.
HAR – (Bad) “13E each for starting 1B, 2B, and SS”. And yet, all three were EL All-stars… How pitiful is that?
Additionally, Tyler Moore has really been ‘locked in’ over the past couple of weeks; He’s hit the ball hard all year (when he made contact), but right now it seems like he’s just hitting everything. I’d personally rather see how it plays for the rest of the season before I jump on the bandwagon.
Defense is only noticed when it’s bad or when the player is also a good hitter. Tyler Moore, for example, is now said to be a good 1B now that he’s hitting. I still see a guy with mediocre range that struggles with throws in the dirt. Agree with your assessment about not anointing him — even as hot as he’s been, he’s still sporting a sub-.300 OBP.
