Rodriguez gave up all four Mets runs on four hits and two walks while striking out six. Joan Baez blanked Syracuse for three innings to earn his second win while Dakota Bacus worked around two baserunners in the 9th for his first save. Gerardo Parra’s bases-loaded triple highlighted the Big Inning as Rochester pounded out 12 hits total, with Adrián Sanchez the sole batter not to reach base. Roster moves: RHPs Sterling Sharp, Alberto Baldonado, OF Cody Wilson reassigned from Harrisburg.

Bowie bookended crooked innings in the 1st and 6th innings before the rains came and hung a fourth shutout loss on Harrisburg, 4-0. Tim Cate let in all four BaySox runs on three hits and four walks over five and a 1/3rd innings to take the loss. Nick Wells wild-pitched in one of two inherited runners but struck out both batter he faced. Jakson Reetz doubled, Rhett Wiseman singled, Osvaldo Duarte and Drew Mendoza both drew walks to account for the Senators offense. Roster moves: OF Carlos Tocci reassigned from Rochester.

The Blue Rocks scored in each of the first five innings to build an eight-run lead and cruise to a 12-7 win over the ‘Hoppers. Zach Brzykcy got the spot start and did little disabuse his bullpen usage as he blanked Greensboro in the first before getting lit up for two runs in each of the 2nd and 3rd innings. He finished with four runs allowed on five hits (three HR) and two walks while fanning four. Christian “Chevy” Vann was credited with the win but was just as ineffective with two runs let in over two innings. Malvin Pena let in one over three to earn the save. Jake Alu, Armond Upshaw, and Israel Pineda combined for seven hits, including four homers and two doubles as Wilmington stoned Greensboro pitchers for 22 hits total.

Leif Strong turned in his second straight clean outing and earned the win while Tanner Driskill let in the free runner on a leadoff single to start the 10th but retired the next three – two by way of the K – to earn the save.
This is the 1st time 3 of the farm teams have won on the same day.
First winning streak for the FNats! Something Rochester have still failed to accomplish.
hmm. Pineda 5 HRs. its getting hot and muggy for those bat barrels.
5 HR out of 9 total hits!
Would be nice if he was able to get on base more than just hitting HR, because that .127 AVG is pretty galling.
Sharp was definitely ready for Rochester but the Cody Wilson move was curious as his OPS in Harrisburg was .380.
I wonder if it was a reaction to just how awful Tocci has been?
Everything about Cody Wilson has been curious. He was very bad in 2019, hitting .222/.317/.330 across three levels (peaking at Low A Hagerstown). Then in April, he was inexplicably promoted to the majors, logging one AB, before getting posted to Harrisburg (two levels above where he’d ever played before). Meanwhile, players who have demonstrated success in professional baseball have been ignored. Alec Keller has batted a very healthy .337/.393/.446, .302/.346/.386 and .296/.412/.444 in the past 3 seasons and can play CF, but is still awaiting a cup of coffee. And in AA, Cole Freeman sported a .798 OPS in A+ in 2019, and can play 2B and all 3 OF spots… both seem far more deserving, and have basically aged out of prospect status at 29 and 26, so there’s not really anything to lose with an aggressive promotion schedule. But what do I know?
I don’t get the Wilson thing. At all. All he seems to have going for him is that he is very fast.
back in the Hood. Destin Hood back on the farm …
Now there’s a name I’d not heard in a long time…a long time.
So when one is hanging out before 9 am reading his Sherlock Holmes novel seeing how many kids are getting on the coach bus for the WPB complex, one doesnt know how many of the kids are GCL Nats or just the early risers on the XST list.
I swear I saw Arias and Sammy Infante get on the bus before 9 am.
the hotel staff is as close to the vest as the CIA…rewind and erase..Nats media outlets.. LOL…
maybe I should change my moniker away from C. Sanfler Fan since Chas sunk down to XST with the likes of Cornell and Moreno..??
I agree with many of you. I also don’t get the Cody Wilson move. He was hitting .115 in AA. I get the Nats needed help to start the season with all the covid but I couldn’t understand why him. There had to be someone with AA or AAA experience they could have called up. If you can’t make it in AA, you’re not going to make it to the majors.
Is there any chance that Armond Upshaw develops into a prospect? Is his defense above average?
