Buffalo 12 Rochester 0

• Bonnell 2⅓ IP, 3H, 0R, 0BB, 2K, 3-2 IR-S
• A. Sanchez 1-2, HBP

• 0-for-8 RISP, 6 LOB
Four Bisons combined on a three-hit shutout of the Red Wings by a 12-0 count. Ben Braymer suffered the loss with five runs charged on three hits (one HR), four walks, and a hit batsman over two and 2/3rds. Rafael Bautista, Adrián Sanchez, and Jake Noll each singled while Gerardo Parra, Raudy Read, and Alec Keller each drew a walk. Roster moves: RHP Wander Suero rehab assignment ended.
Richmond 4 Harrisburg 1
• Teel (L, 0-1) 6IP, 6H, 3R, 3ER, 2BB, 4K
• Tapani 3IP, 2H, 1R, 0ER, 2BB, 1K
• Cluff 2-4, R, HR, RBI
• Sagdal 1-4
Carson Teel became the first Nats minor-leaguer to throw a quality start, but the bats weren’t there in a 4-1 Harrisburg loss. Teel gave up three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out four in his first loss. Kevin Tapani finished with an unearned run over the last three, with two hits and two walks allowed. Jackson Cluff singled in the 3rd and homered in the 6th, but the rest of the lineup went 2-for-27 with Ian Sagdal and Nick Banks each collecting a single. Roster moves: RHP Andrew Lee placed on the 7-Day I.L.
Wilmington 1 Jersey Shore 0
• Cavalli 5IP, 1H, 0R, 3BB, 8K
• Brzykcy (W, 1-0) 4IP, 2H, 0R, 2BB, 7K
• Rhinesmith 1-4, R, HR, RBI
• Marinconz 1-3, BB
Jacob Rhinesmith’s two-out solo HR turned out to be just enough for the Blue Rocks to edge the BlueClaws, 1-0. Cade Cavalli turned in another five scoreless innings, allowing one hit and three walks and striking out eight. Zach Brzykcy got the “W” as he finished up the game, including a high-wire act in the 9th as an error, walk, and a passed ball put runners on second and third with nobody out. Brzykcy got a popup to short for the first out, issued an intentional walk to load the bases before collecting his sixth and seventh whiffs of the night to end the game.
Delmarva 17 Fredericksburg 3
• P. González 3IP, 6H, 6R, 4ER, 2BB, 3K, HR, HBP
• Arruda 2-4, BB, 2RBI, SB
• Diaz 1-2, 3BB, 2E(6), SB

Fredericksburg dropped its eighth straight with a never-a-doubt-about-it 17-3 loss to Delmarva. Pedro González gave up two runs in each of his three innings thrown, allowing six hits (one HR) and two walks while striking out three. Jake Arruda singled twice while Geraldi Diaz singled once to account for all three F-Nats hits, four of their six walks drawn, and two of three bases stolen.
So, two straight days in AA no Kieboom, and Garcia isn’t in the lineup.
Uh, why?
because they are in AAA
Kieboon has an oblique type injury. He came out in the 6th inning a couple of games ago.
Anyone want to place some bets on when Fredericksburg get their first win?
My guess is this Sunday to end their 11 game losing streak.
Again very few positives to take away, but Cavalli and Brzykcy’s outings for Wilmington were a very bright spot in an otherwise very dark day of baseball.
3 hits, 5 BB and 15 K in 9 innings, with Cavalli being particularly dominant, allowing only 1 hit and 8 K in 5IP. He’s now thrown 10 scoreless innings allowing only 3 hits total to go with 15 K. Looks like Cavalli could get a promotion pretty quickly, if he keeps this up!
Yeah, the Diamondbacks just promoted their top pitching prospect from High-A to Double-A after two dominant starts. Cavalli should move up soon, I hope.
Can we just promote Cavalli and Brzykcy (buy a vowel, fella!) directly to the big club? About the only way the Nats can win is if they only have to score one run. Excellent career starts for both of those guys. Cavalli seems to be as good as advertised, and Brzykcy is looking like a free-agent steal.
Unless I’m losing count, the organizational record is now 6-26. I feel bad for the players who have to endure playing on bad teams. I feel bad for the fans, three with teams new to this organization, including one that built a new stadium (Fredericksburg). My understanding is that the enthusiasm was so high in F-burg that they’re sold out through May. Not sure losses by two touchdowns will keep folks coming to the park, though.
Not easy to find the worst minor league teams of all time, but the 1926 Reading Keystones went 31-129 (.194). Debatable whether this F-burg team will win more than 19% of its games.
Harrisburg should have flooded the field overnight to ward off that no no
