Cards Double Up Nats, 6-3
After tying up the game at 3-3 with a three-run top of the 7th, the Nats gave it right back in the bottom half for a 6-3 loss to the Cards.
Patrick Corbin made his spring debut with an unimpressive line of one run on a home run, two walks, and zero (0) strikeouts. The loss went to Ben Braymer, who gave up the aforementioned three runs on two hits and a walk in the 7th after pitching a 1-2-3 sixth.
Luis Garcia (1-for-2, 2RBI) came off the bench and broke up a shutout bid with a two-run HR following a leadoff walk by Carter Kieboom (0-1, R, 2BB) to start the 7th. Jake Noll (2-2, R) doubled after Garcia and came around to score on a two-out single by Brandon Snyder. Tres Barrera (0-1) ended the inning with a groundout
Yadiel Hernandez (0-for-3) was the DH but was hitless in three ABs. Drew Ward (0-for-1) pinch-hit for Hernandez in the 8th and struck out for the seventh time in five games.
The loss extends Washington’s winless streak to four games as they dropped to 2-5-1 for the spring.
The Nats stay on the road and head to Port St. Lucie for a Sunday afternoon start. Aníbal Sánchez is slated to pitch against Jacob deGrom for the Mets.
The game will be televised on MLB.tv (Mets feed) and can be heard locally on 106.7FM.
More defensive woes for Kieboom, with a ball through the wickets somehow scored a hit…
