Reno 14 Fresno 13
• McGowin 6IP, 7H, 4R, 3ER, 2BB, 4K, HR, HBP; 1-4, R
• Mills ⅓ IP, 5H, 6R, 6ER, 1BB, 0K

• Marmolejos 3-4, 2B, BB, 2RBI
• J. Wilson 3-6, 3R, 2B, 2HR, 5RBI
• Noll 3-6, 3R, 3RBI
The Grizzlies ‘pen might not have been watching when Wander Suero and Justin Miller imploded in the 10th, but they sure did top them by blowing a 13-4 lead in the 9th for a 14-13 walkoff loss. Jordan Mills retired just one of seven batters faced while Tanner Rainey retired none of three, giving up a single, a walk, then a grand slam for his fourth blown save and second loss in just nine appearances. The disintegration took away a possible win from starter Kyle McGowin, who pitched well enough to do so with 12 runs scored behind him as he allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits and two walks while striking out four over six frames. Jacob Wilson, José Marmolejos, and Jake Noll each had three hits and combined for nine hits, six runs and 10 RBI to lead Fresno’s 20-hit parade.
Hartford 6 Harrisburg 2 – GAME ONE
• Braymer (L, 1-1) 5IP, 9H, 6R, 5ER, 2BB, 5K, HR, WP
• Condra-Bogan 1IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 0K, HBP
• Sagdal 1-3, 2B
• Ward 1-3, R, 2B
Hartford scored in each of its first four ups to easily take the opener from Harrisburg, 6-2. Ben Braymer got his scoreless inning in the fifth and was charged with all six Yard Goat runs on nine hits and two walks. He struck out five. Ian Sagdal and Drew Ward both doubled for the two (out of six total) extra base hits the Sens collected.
Harrisburg 3 Hartford 0 – GAME TWO
• M. Sanchez (W, 3-0) 6IP, 3H, 0R, BB, 6K
• Bourque (SV, 4) 1IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 1K
• Garcia 2-4, R, 2B
• Sagdal 2-3, 2-2B, SF, 2RBI
Mario Sanchez and James Bourque combined on a four-hit, 3-0 shutout in the nightcap to split the doubleheader. Sanchez went the first six and gave up one walk and three hits while fanning six for his third win while Bourque worked around a one-out single in the 7th with game-ending double play to earn his fourth save. Ian Sagdal doubled twice and drove in two while Luis Garcia singled, doubled, and scored a run to power the Harrisburg offense.
Carolina 13 Potomac 6
• Johnston (L, 1-4) 1⅔ IP, 6H, 8R, 5ER, 0BB, 2K, HR, HBP
• Howard 3⅓ IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 8K
• Reetz 2-2, 2R, 2BB
• Masters 2-4, 2R, RBI
• Abreu 2-4, 2B, 4RBI
Kyle Johnston was Mr. Hyde again as the Mudcats sent him to the showers after one inning and 2/3rds and eight runs in as they took Game Two from the P-Nats by 13-6 margin. Potomac rallied for three twice in the middle innings, with Osvaldo Abreu driving in four on an RBI single in the 5th and three-run double in the 6th. Jakson Reetz reached base four times with two walks and two singles to lead the nine-hit, four-walk offense.
Greensboro 13 Hagerstown 2
• Cate (L, 1-2) 6IP, 3H, 3R, 2ER, 3BB, 8K, 2HR
• C. Wilson 2-4, R
• Lara 1-4, R, 2B, RBI
The Suns ‘pen wasn’t quite the supernova like the Grizzlies, but ten runs over the final three innings turned a 3-2 nail-biter into a 13-2 laugher. Tim Cate gave up two solo HRs and three hits total, but still registered a quality start of three runs allowed over six innings while striking out a career-high of eight. Leif Strom gave up two homers in 2/3rds of inning, Jared Brasher, three in two and a 1/3rd as both relievers were charged with five runs. Cody Wilson singled twice and scored on Gilbert Lara’s first-inning double while Lara came around on Jacob Rhinesmith’s subsequent single. The team was held to five hits total and got just one more batter into scoring position over the last eight innings. Roster moves: C Israel Pineda placed on the 7-Day I.L.; C Tyler Cropley assigned from XST.
Guys and/or gals, my guy in Hagerstown wasn’t in town so I have no idea how Pineda got hurt.
Luke. Would you be easy on Fresno lol. You know the house always wins aces in Reno ( and Vegas)!!!!!! Ha ha ha. Gotcha !!
No crying in baseball ⚾️ Tom Hanks in film about WW2 women’s pro ball.
Mr Wilson leaving the yard nightly this week not to mention Mr Spaulding
Mr Lerner and sons. Reel in your guy from Fresno on the next plane east . Open the door for Knorr!
I am probably a handful of fans looking forward to what Mr Cropley brings to the tools of ignorance . Summertime is one long Chorus Line auditions .
Cane. Somebody is slowly writing in pencil the names of guys earning pink slips out of ORG.
Interesting as we go deeper in the summer how the splits are for Sens hitters at home vs the road.
Lol. A bullpen guy in AA has best outing in farm last night .
Maybe Leif Strom is being kept around because Suns might have Leif Garrett retro night ??
Luke the way the season is going I am sure the injury could be part of a 3 Stooges routine.
That’s the PCL. Add Henny Youngman body language
Thanks Luke.
Funny thing about the game yesterday in DC. If all things being perfect. Suero may not been the guy in tenth. Maybe Rosie
Luke are you surprised that Hags doesn’t have Diaz or Chisholm up for a look??
Amidst all the BS in the system. Howard sure was gas for Potomac yesterday.
Eight strikeouts. Oh my…
Is there anybody in the Nats’ minor league bullpens who looks ready to move up to The Show?
This year?
I don’t know who’s in charge of scouting relief pitchers for the franchise, but whoever it is should lose their job.
I think development and coaching of relievers is just as bad. How do struggling relievers continually go to other teams and suddenly figure things out? Trevor Gott is the latest example.
In any event, this is what happens when the GM treats young arms like $20 bills at a strip club. There is no excuse–for example–trading Pedro Avila, who looked good in his MLB debut this year, for a catcher who was DFA’ed before opening day. Rizzo has got to go.
No lamenting over old girlfriends or no crying in baseball .
Either this season evolves surprisingly or this club is fourth place.
Will. You mean the Roark deal??
Yes, among many other examples.
Not so fast Bob Boone driving back to D.C. – go watch the ugh in Hags.
Watching the Padres roll out three South paws , I wonder if drafting lower like the Friars have recently means better odds in pitchers climbing to the bigs
UK and Florida Gators might be more appealing this Sunday.
Joey Lucchesi related to the late Frank ??
Considering how the PCL tends to goose up the numbers, McGowin had a pretty good outing.
Jacob Wilson, oh my, his OPS is 1.234 after almost a month. If the Nats don’t want to bring him up, a lot of other clubs could sure use him and maybe we can trade him for a relief arm for the big club.
Hoping Tetreault can show the way today for the other Potomac starters.
Mark L. The PCL vs home dimensions on City Isle. ?? Makes you wonder if even Bryan Meijia would rake insane in PCL…
We all look forward to the next rendition of The Man with No name , Luke , aka. The Good the bad , the ugly ( and the interesting ).
Ugly should be included , Luke. Lol
Here we go. Planter fascist-Itis for Zimm11
Snyder call up?? He deserves a shot .
As one watches last night’s apocalyptic meltdowns in Washington and Reno, one wonders where the heck is Andrew Istler?
Great point . Istler and add Dickson to F troop if Snyder gets the long plane ride through. PHX.
By the time I get to Phoenix ( Glen Campbell )
That’s enough , Rizzo. Trade Hellie and Dozier. Call up some kids and count the $$$ savings upstairs ! Season over , Cane. I’ve had it with this manure of a season !!
The Nats may have more empty seats this season than the Fish in Miami.
That’s one man be with Fedde , Rizzo …
Snider on an airplane through PHX instead of being in Reno ??
