Notes: Jason Jones just couldn’t stop Pawtucket from scoring, allowing runs in every inning he started before being lifted with two outs, down 5-2. After a Boomer Whiting scored on a groundout after a bunt-single-turned-triple-via-error got the Chiefs within striking distance at 5-3 in the fifth, Atahualpa Severino served up four runs to the PawSox in just two-thirds of an inning to put the game out of reach.

Notes: Ross Detwiler’s best effort at AA thus far was wasted on a night when the offense could only muster six hits. The lefthander went five innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on just three hits and one walk while striking out seven. He also helped out his own cause with a single in two at-bats.

Notes: The longball was the undoing of Graham Hicks, who surrendered two last night, including a three-run shot as part of a four-run rally by the Rome Braves in the sixth inning. It also was the lion’s share of the Suns offense, as three of the five runs came on one swing by Justin Bloxom as Hagerstown managed to score five runs on just six hits, taking advantage of Rome’s five walks allowed. Francisco Soriano’s two errors pulled him into a second-place tie for the most errors in the Sally League with 32.

Notes: David Freitas’s RBI double in the bottom of the first extended his hitting streak to 13 games and gave the Lake Monsters an early 2-1 lead. That was the highlight for Vermont as the Aberdeen Ironbirds carpet-bombed Centennial Field with 15 hits en route to a 10-4 victory. Taylor Jordan started and went 4⅔ innings, giving up six runs on eight hits and three walks. He struck out just one.

Notes: In a game that saw two ties and five lead changes, the GCL Nationals cranked out six runs in the top of the 10th to defeat the GCL Cardinals 14-8. The two-three-four batters of Rick Hague, Adrian Sanchez, and Randolph Oduber combined for seven hits, three walks and five RBIs to pace the GCL offense. Jimmy Bathmaier was ineffective in his third game since the Nationals signed him, coughing up five runs on seven hits over just two innings.
